specs are nice but what a way to shit on your customers sony... make it smaller, bigger hd but make it look much MUCH crappier...

looks like a Sega Genesis, I'd rather not turn on my George Foreman PS3 grill and have it look a lot better than this thing..

why not make them smaller to begin with?! stop using gimmicks to sell more systems and just give with the quality stuff immediately!! maybe then more people would buy from the beginning...

I'm with you on that one. Nothing special about the cosmetics on this one. Wish they stuck with the 4 USB ports though. Hopefully the improved hardware and lowered energy consumption makes it last a long time.

i'm a self proclaimed ps3 fanboy and i wholeheartedly agree with flash. i'm not mad or anything, i just don't see the point to this. the ps3 itself looks really nice imo. REALLY nice. i like it. this thing looks like poop, a throwback system. the added hardrive space is really cool, and energy efficiency is cool....i guess. i just don't see the purpose, i suppose it's a good space saver for those in mobile homes?

I just can't understand what they were thinking when they designed this. It's Matte not Smooth Piano Black (WTF?). It has no beautiful chrome silver lining (WTF?). It does have a reasonably attractive new logo, inkeeping with the PlayStation design. But they just could have done so much better. At least now PS3 can match xbox's Buy-In-Box HDD capacity. But what xbox fanboys forget is that 120 is the highest they can go. PS3 HDD can reach 750gb maybe even more, it uses Laptop hard drives! But another problem with Slim PS3 is they removed the "Install Other OS" option. What were they thinking? Other than that it has no real advantage, so I will certainly not be buying.

Yup, I agree. I love my PS3 and I think this is pointless. Who cares if it's smaller? How often are you moving the thing around? If you want to play on the move, that's what the PSP is for!

i have to say this:

a) this is kind of ugly. the PStwo and PSone were cool when they came out, i think they could have done better with this.

b) being that i want to see Xbox prevail and PS3 fail, this new slim model scares me. sure, its ugly, but the price point and its features are very attractive to those who dont have a PS3 already.

-New, Slim model (but ugly)

compare to Xbox 360

$300 Elite

-Notoriously high fail rate (they fix it though, we went over this)

my friend has a ps3, and that's my main motivation to get one. just to play games with him online. he refuses to buy a xbox. he just doesn't like the controller. and he's a proud fanboy.

The Ps3 Slim looks pretty good but I'm still leaning towards the larger PS3 look. I'm glad that the price is coming down for that version too.

Quick question to anyone who owns a PS3. I know PS3 can play Blu Ray movies but how is the quality? I'm only saying this because I remember PS2 can play DVDs but the quality is somewhat low and the Brightness (for me) seemed a bit lower than a standard dvd player.

are you asking about dvd playback quality on the ps3?it gets a bit upscaled specially the wide screen versions.I think its about the same with the full screen version.but then again when you have a blu-ray player why not play blu-ray movies ;) you can buy then used also either on blu-ray forums or blockbuster/hollywood.

i think he is asking about the Blu-Ray quality. wants to know if quality of DVD on Ps2 is equivalent to quality of Blu-Ray on Ps3.

watching movies is just about all i do with my PS3, and i must say they look nice.
