View Full Version : Poor character choices

Hi Everyone,

One thing I have noticed about Mighty Muggs posts all over the net (not just here) is there is usually someone that says, "I'll get that figure, but not that figure." or they might say, "I can think of better choices than that one."

I'm just excited about the ride, and am enjoying all of these characters. I mean, after all, it is pretty darn amazing that a company would take a chance making a Plo Kloon figure, or a Skrull, or a Short Round? How cool is that?! Really if you think about it, its pretty amazing the variety and obscurity we are getting.

So although there will probably always be people unhappy that their favorites were overlooked for what they feel are less popular characters, I suggest we just be patient and hope the line is successful so someday our top choices get represented eventually.

As a side note, I'm surprised the license holders to DC comics, or Ninja Turtles or other popular licenses haven't jumped on the bandwagon and made their own incarnations of "super deformed chunky vinyls" in fashion of Mighty Muggs.

Hm I don't think I've heard anyone complain of the character choices. I like all of them so far. If anything, they are not coming out with them fast enough!

That reminded me of another thought - when they first came out I thought they were perfect, but as I was buying more and more of them, it dawned on me that it would have been beneficial if Mighty Muggs were half the size - or even 2 inches smaller - that way I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed with how much space they are taking up. I wonder if Hasbro had considered what happens to the completist Mighty Mugg fan when they absolutely run out of space for them. Someone is going to have to make me stop. I feel like a crazy cat lady who can't see the truth that having a house full of cats is more of a problem than anything. haha.

"Mini Muggs" would probably have allowed for even more character choices and still leave me room to move around.

If I get some mortar, I bet I could make a brick wall of Mighty Muggs.

I personally like it when they come out with more obscure characters that don't get much love. Characters like Plo Koon and Grand Moff Tarkin are a joy to see in Mugg form and I love obscure Marvel characters like Vision and Skrull standing up there with the big boys like Spider-Man and Iron Man.

My biggest problem is that, with such huge universes such as Star Wars and Marvel, they shouldn't have to already resort to different variants of the same character. There's currently 24 different Marvel Muggs and there's already 3 Spider-Man's, 3 Iron Man's and 2 Captain America's while comics like X-Men and Ghostrider only have 1 Mugg a piece and some comics like Daredevil don't have any. Star Wars also does the different variants of the same character thing. Sure, they're neat ideas and they all look cool, but I'd rather have more original characters show up each wave than characters I already have.

Oh great point! I agree completely. I also hate it when you buy a figure like Luke Skywalker, or Darth Vader, and then they make more desirable versions later (beat up Bespin Luke and removeable mask Vader).

I know, they just took the original Darth Vader mugg, flipped its head and painted another face... c'mon Hasbro, we all know you can do so much better than that

That Darth Vader with the duel heads is ridiculous. I think thats just BS. Thank god I'm not into collecting all of the Star Wars Muggs. Otherwise I would be out ten bucks. Though I guess I'm going to be out 20 because i'm not likeing the new Wave 5 Iron Man or Cap either but I'm getting them.

I don't think they're bad designs or anything, the idea of having a maskless Vader is actually really neat and I love the various Iron Man suits, but really, they should save those until they finally start running out of original ideas. There's still plenty of characters left to be Mugg'd and shouldn't be pushed aside for a third Spider-Man or whatever.
