i'm about to start a flamehead mugg and need some advice/help. flames....what is the best approach for masking these before priming? i notice there are flattened sides on the flames i was thinking laying a strip on each side of the flames.....

also when i was in school there was this liquid that you put on your paintings to mask the area off. it was orange and dried tacky and rubbed off like rubber cement....would this stuff work on muggs?

Sorry, I don't even own a Flame Head Mugg, even one NOT to custom. I've never looked at 'em that closely.

Oh, shoot, I forgot to even say it. It's probably just some kind of liquid Frisket, for airbrushers (though obviously you can use it for anything). Frisket is pretty low tack, you could probably use it on a Mugg's paint. I've found that if I use Liquitex, however, it peels off failrly easily, as opposed to the Ceramcoat and similar paints.

I don't think it would peel off any paint, but obviously you'd have to test it.
I just meant that the artists curved tape I use has peeled off Liquitex tube paint that I've used, in the past, but it doesn't peel off the Ceramcoat. I haven't used Liquid Frisket in forever.

No problem, man. I can certainly do art, but most of the tips I've gotten for Muggs are from here, so glad to help! :D
