After Coating on Custom Muggs

Does anyone use any special type of coating after painting their muggs? If so, what kind or brand? Is it for protection or to make it look good?

Honestly, i've only tried one kind of coating, so i wouldn't know what's better than what.
But i just use Krylon Gloss coating
