I'm currently working on a custom Mugg. He will be a robot so obviously... He will be silver.

I threw on a few coats of Krylon Fusion Primer then put 2 coats of silver on it. Now... Before I go any further I thought I should ask...

Will acrylic paint work well on spray paint? Or do you all reccomend another (hopefully a cheap) option?

I've used acrylic paint over spray paint before, and it worked fine. The only problem I had with it was when I painted over a glossy spray paint- the acrylic didn't stick very well. So if you stick with a matte spray paint, it should be fine.

I do it everyday, no problems with it, good luck.

It may take a couple of coats, but it works. Use a matte or satin finish and be sure to clear coat your mugg when you are complete otherwise the acrylic has a high chance of scraping off the spray paint

Is the silver a chrome silver? I've been thinking of doing a mugg with really chrome silver and am contemplating the best way to go about it.

Chard, it should work as long as you don't glob it on and you may want to use a highgloss sealer instead of matte finish otherwise you run the risk of "fogging" out your chrome look!

Oh good. My silverhawk mugg may see the light of day yet!

Thanks.

Now I have a new question... I've started painting on the shading. However... It's not working to well...

I'm using a mix between black and silver acrylic paint. The silver seems somewhat watered down. The paint is going on a bit thin, so in some spots the paint is thin and in others rather globed up. I can see brush strokes all over the place and it seems a bit sloppy. Any suggestions?
