So i'm working on a David Lo-pan to round out my Big trouble in little china muggs.

So i bought a couple of Galactus Muggs at target the other day thinking it will be easy just to pop off the top of his head and take off his head piece. Boy was i WRONG!!!!!!

seriously i don't even know if it's worth it. My boyfriend helped me with this (did it all).
Step one: Heat up his head with a Heat Lamp (just like the boil method sans water)
Step two: jimmy his head with a screw driver and try to pull the top off.
Nuffin wouldn't bugde at all.

at this point we were stumped, my boy pulled on it a bit and BROKE the head off Ooops.

Ok no problem we can work with it... we take a Dremel to it. Drill out the top of the head since i didn't need that anyways. since it was just for Lo-pan's hat.

Well well well what have we here...

Looks like there are two support nubs and 4 support beams across the top of his head. I doubt boiling will soften them up since they are trapped inside his head. Also the top of his head is hard plastic and not vinyl like the rest of his body.

so to sum this up, if you need to use his "hat" on a skirt body, just boil him and take off his head. I hope my pain has helped. lol

Holy smoke, that's cool. I was always curious what was in Galactus' head and if his helmet came off. Your pain HAS opened my eyes and is quite informative.:D

My boyfriend just told me he thinks the head won't work on any other body since the inside of the head/neck connector is hard plastic as well. I'm not sure what the other's look like and if you will have to snap the body apart as well.

Wow! Whodda thunk it! I can never bring myself to pulling apart these Muggs. I've got 6 Cairo Swordsman I bought for $2 each, just to customize. Every time I go to start, I lose my nerve. I apparently watched 'Toy Story' too many times when my son was younger. I'm sure there's a Watcher Mugg tickled to death to see that.

(You go, comic geeks who know who the Watchers are!):D:cool:

Now THERE's a great character for a Mugg Custom. The regular Mugg head is PERFECT.

Yeah it was not fun taking that head off but we managed to get it the way we needed it for my Lo-pan. It's almost ready to show on the forum. I just need to finish painting the hat pin and seal the paint and attach the sleeves. :D
