Hey custom muggers I need some help, I'm about to start on my first custom. I'm planning on doing a stitch in his spacesuit, I am using Skrull as the base. Now the questions I have are:

1) When making his antennas should I attach them on his head first and then primer the mugg or should I primer everything and then attatch the antennas?

2) I would like to cut into his ears like how stitch has cuts in his, and I would also like to cut his legs to make him shorter, I was wondering how I should go about cutting him.

3) Lastly I would like to add an extra set of arms to him, does anyone have any tips on how I should go about this?

thanks

jon

1. Always attach any sculpting BEFORE painting. I had an experience with one of my first customs, where i painted it first, and the paint cracked horribly and ended up melting/deforming the plastic/vinyl when i baked the sculpt on. It was beyond fixing.

2. I stick with an exacto knife for any cutting i have to do. Although, i'm pretty sure the legs are hollow.. You might not want to cut into them.

3. I would just cut the arms off another mugg and attach them to the mugg you're customizing. Krazy glue works wonders.

I'm sure other customizers might have different opinions, so make sure you get some other advice before starting!

You can do it.. I think you should try it however you feel.. a few months back the customizers on here didnt have anyone to ask.. Trial and error. You'll pull it off.

good luck.

Thanks for all the replies you guys, I have one more question. When dremeling off his legs should I use a blowdryer or something to try and heat him up or will using a dremel be enough??

thanks
jon

Dremel will be enough. I've cut steel with that, plastic is no big deal.

I cant wait to see him. Stich is my all time favorite character. You should make Leroy next.

You can remove legs without a dremel. There is a thread (2 threads down or so) that shows someone taking apart a mugg by boiling it to soften the plastic. You can read it in the thread.

PS. There's also a hilarious pic of Luke diving into a pool of deathly hot boiling water:)
