I just saw it, and it's AMAZING! It's so similar to the Graphic Novel, it's crazy. The ending was changed, but i thought it was a really good way to end the story. And still... Rorschach is a badass. :)

The DVD that came out on tuesday is very good, did any one see it? Very very good. Word for word the graphic novel, only animated. The only problem is the male narrator does all the female voices too so it makes them sounds like transvestites. I about lost it when The Comedians' vietnamese girlfriend spoke.

Saw it last night night and it was great. Very true to the book. I disagree with the statement that the ending was 'changed,' I would prefer to say that it was 'tweaked.' I mean all of the content of the novel ending was there but it was structured differently. Well except for no giant squid. I give and A. :)

Every critic and the general population is going to compare any comic based movie to Dark Knight now. Which is too bad, cause DK was not that great overall. Watchmen, for most non comic fans, are not going to get it.

totally agree. Dark Knight was a good drama but that's about it. Not saying it wasn't fantastic but it's a shame that comic movies will be compared to it for a long time...

Nothin' wrong with critics or anyone else comparing comic book movies to The Dark Knight, 'cause at least they're starting to take them semi-seriously now ... not that they had any real reason to before. There is plenty of room for the "Fun" comic book movies like Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men and the previous Batman/Superman films and the "Serious" comic book movies like Batman Begins/The Dark Knight and The Watchmen. Frankly, I'm just glad to get them at all.

For myself, I finally went down to Borders and picked up The Watchmen graphic novel. Had a 30% off coupon so it was only $14. I don't know if I'll make it to the movie, but we'll see. Glad to hear that it is done well. :D

I agree. People who have no idea that it's even a comic book will take one look at rorschach's mask, or doc manhattan's blue penis and be like... "this is ridiculous! ahhhh! wahhh wahhhh, blahhh blahhhhh!" (which translates to... "i'm a MORON!")

Not to mention, i guarantee most of them will complain about how long it is as well. Just a guess.

Haven't seen it yet. Think I'm going tomorrow to an early show. That's awesome that it sounds like it stayed true to the comic. I did pick up a DC Direct Dr. Manhattan & Rorschach from TRU earlier today, and I have to say they are freakin' sweet!! That would be awesome if they made the Mighty Muggs of the Watchmen!!:D

Yeah, the DC Direct are freakin' dead on, but man they're like $17 a piece. I'll eventually get all of them. Watchmen Muggs would be the absolute shizzle. I've seen some customs and there is so much you could do with all the characters.:p

Just got back from the theater. All I can say is, wow. It was really good. Different, but good. I think the changes were needed to make it believable. Dr. M's super wacker was kinda odd though. lol. All the parts were good though. Silk was hot. And it was just, good. All I can say. I just hope the little 9 year old hero fans don't think its, ya know. :p I would rate it a 3/5

idk how i felt about the movie like it was good but there were some problems i had with it, things that if i didnt already know the story would have been confusing, but oh well.... a friend did tell me that they took an hour out of the movie and they will be releasing an extended edition of the movie... but over all i thought it was a good adaptation of the graphic novel, i was very happy with the characters i have to say they nailed each one. ill be extremely happy if they really do release an extended edition, my friend told me that the reason why they cut out an hour out was because of the WB / Fox lawsuit that was going on. he got this information from his brother that works in the industry... so i am hoping that it is true

Green Eggs and Death

I strongly suspect the reason they cut an hour out of the movie had little or nothing to do with the lawsuit and more to do with the fact that it's just too much to ask moviegoers to sit there for 3 1/2 hours, not to mention the fact that theaters make less money the longer a movie is. ;)

As much as I enjoyed The Dark Knight last year, even the length of that film was pushin' it, and I found myself movin' around in my seat the last half hour or so ... and, no, it had nothing to do with the Mr. Pibb I drank.;) I enjoy long movies, as I've always felt that I "get my money's worth" with one (unless it sucks, of course), but there IS a limit. Luckily, we have DVDs and Blu-Rays to give us "the rest of the story." :D

Anyway, now that I've finished the graphic novel, I'm gonna have to find someone to see the film with.

We have two girls (3 and 8 yrs) so it makes it difficult for us both to go. Finding a babysitter is near impossible these days.
I only go to the movies if there is something I REALLY wanna see. Last three films I saw were Watchmen, Star Wars The Clone Wars and Hellboy 2. That should give you an idea of how often I get to go. :) I know you have kids too.

Green Eggs and Death
03-12-2009, 01:36 PM
Yep, it's 'bout the same. Just about our only "baby"sitters anymore are Mrs. Eggs' parents. Her two sis's and my brother used to watch our kids (if we asked them, which we didn't too often), but one sis and my bro up went and had their own babies last august and the other sis moved to Dallas. Damned inconsiderate of them, if you ask me.

I THINK the last movie I went to in the theater was The Dark Knight, unless The Clone Wars came out after that. Only Mrs. Eggs and I saw The Dark Knight, but The Clone Wars was good for the family. Mrs. Eggs took the boys to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua ... I bowed out of that one, thank goodness. I don't think Mrs. Eggs would either be interested in or understand The Watchmen, so I may end up goin' alone after all. We'll see.
