That would look sick! How exactly would you go about doing it though?

I discovered a guy in the Bowen section of statueforum.com who does custom chroming. He does commissions, so I figured I'd send one his way and see if he had any ideas on how to preserve the surfer's face during the chroming process. If he can do it, I'm definitely considering paying the chroming fee.

I'm not sure. I'd be interested one way or another. Anybody else up for trying this?

I sent an e-mail earlier tonight, so I should hear back from him tomorrow. I'll post more details when I get them. ^_^

dude that would be so sick to make a war machine where the silver parts of him are chrome and the rest are like a metallic black paint.. everyday i want to design my own customs but its too crazy for me.

I would like to know how much it would be to chrome...I would do it.
What type of shop would I go to locally to find someone who can chrome?

Is real chroming even possible on non metallic surfaces? I thought chroming is an electrostatic process by of transference electrons and just assumed it was a metal only process.

It might be possible if you paint on some sort of metal based paint that way the chrome could bond.

Okay....I just scored another Silver Surfer to do this job. The paint apps are going to get covered with chrome, however.
I was wondering: can anybody make me a mockup/template that I could use for re-painting the face?
You know how they make stencils with designs on them? Kinda like a jack-o-lantern stencil. I was hoping someone could make a mugg-sized silver surfer stencil that I could send to the chromers, so that they can spray on the face. I think that's all you really need to preserve the look and feel of a Mighty Mugg that has been chromed.
What do you guys think? Anybody willing to put something together with the Surfer's detail, along with a detailed grid of what should be what color.
Kinda like this: http://th01.deviantart.com/fs12/300W/i/2006/296/6/3/Sonic_Jack_O_Lantern_stencil_by_Rally_the_Cheetah. jpg
I know it's kinda confusing to explain. I just hope somebody can help me. Thanks guys!

Okay....this is what they asked me:
Michael,
If you can make an eps file the same size or larger than what is on the piece, we can cut a stencil and airbrush the design on. Let me know if you can do that.
Thanks,
Kristin

Does anybody have a scanner that they could scan in a high-quality image of the Surfer Mighty Mugg box from the front and side profile? I figure I'll piece it together and make the stencil from that. Thanks in advance gang!
