View Full Version : G.I. Joe Muggs question (cancelled?)

I was just reading that this line may be cancelled.

(Seems dumb with a new movie forthcoming, but Hasbro isn't the smartest of companies...)

Anyway, if this is the case, does that mean that the Baroness and Destro are the last two Muggs for this line?

That would make this the complete list?:

Cobra Commander
Duke
Snake Eyes
Storm Shadow
Baroness
Destro

If anyone can confirm, that would be great.

Thanks,
Orri~

i guess it ends at six! seems very lackluster.

as far as the line being cancelled...it came from what is suppose to be a reliable source, but no one will buy into until a hasbro rep comes to there house and sits them down to tell them :p.

Honestly, if this wave were to be cancelled, it's because of a Wave 2 only consisting of TWO new Muggs. I mean, obviously you decided to inundate the public with previously released waves, thus not being able to have open shelf space for new ones. I mean, look at the Indy line. Each wave had only 3 new Muggs. Something was going to be a dust collector. I hope this line doesn't get cancelled though.

It's done. Think about it. How many Marvel and SW Muggs do we know are coming up? We've seen pictures of at least the next couple of waves of each. Have we seen ANYTHING GI Joe-related except some obscure magazine pic of Serpentor to indicate further GI Joe Muggs are on their way? No.

Well, the only thing is, they've consistently had a new wave of Joes each month. They only just released in January, so even though there hasn't been much news, it doesn't equate to them not releasing any new ones. Just got to be patient.

While what you're saying is, of course true, it's not the basis for the thread.

Correct, it would be an illogical conclusion to claim that the line is done because of slow distribution.

I don't even think that anyone is claiming that, actually. I think the Joe line has been distributed very well, in fact.

The problem is, Hasbro has decided to cancel the line. This isn't a theory; just happens to be the case.

Well, hopefully not. The Joe lines brought some great Muggs with great accessories. I know you were seeking confirmation if it was or not, but hopefully it wasn't. Plus no Serpentor?

Ok, so which ones are they releasing in 13 days? If Wave 1 was January, and Wave 2 is February, which G.I.Joe Muggs are in Wave 3 / March? Which ones have you seen posted here and elsewhere? Are they just keeping all of the new Joes secret until March? Teasing us? I mean, even though online retailers always have preorders (and pictures of those preorders) available many weeks ahead of time?

It's over. That's it, six Muggs.

Litepink, any way you could get some of your "contacts" to send a Hasbro rep to their houses?:D

Does this forum have an "Ignore User" option? I'm getting tired of all the negativity and rudeness of some posters.

I completely agree. Posting topic after topic and post after post about something that has been answered, politely, ad nauseum, gets old. After awhile, the politeness tends to go away. I'll leave it there.

It's a shame they're cancelling Mugg lines. Really. Believe it. Get over it. It's NOT the end of the world. Still two more Mugg lines goin' strong.

I don't think an Ignore User option is necessary. I actually find most of these users your referring to as negative and rude have funnier and more intelligent posts to input than the others that make stupid posts and topics, i.e. "wookie cookies" etc.

I don't believe the post you quoted was rude or negative, just sarcastic.

The thing is, some people just simply don't want to (or can't) believe that a toy line would cancel after such a short period of time.

No matter how many times it gets said, there's still that "but...maybe" factor.

After a while, it almost seems like the informational posts aren't being read, or they're just being ignored.

My original post was to confirm that I wasn't missing anything from my GI Joe Mugg list; not to confirm the cancellation of the line.

I'm not saying don't be hopeful, just realistic.

Hasbro simply isn't making a lot of money on the GI Joe line. Since the Muggs are a very small part of the GI Joe toy franchise, they're better off not putting their resources there.

Are they cool? Yes. Are they functional? No. At the end of the day, the biggest consumer base for toys is kids. And believe it or not - kids like to play with their toys.

Muggs are just cool to look at, and for us eccentric obsessive types, they fit the bill. Problem is, they're just not paying the bills for Hasbro.

There, listen to this guy above. Says the same things (and it's HIS topic). Put me down as rude (you'd be an idiot, but that's fine ... oops, was that rude?) for stating the same stuff (not here, I was sarcastic here ... as SOMEone recognized), that's fine.

Heck, I got the "Hasbro rep" line from Litepink, but Lord knows you don't want to be seen pickin' on a woman, even one that can take care of herself. Hilarious! :D

You can't can't tell irrational people things they don't want to hear. That's why I stopped posting new information when I get it. Most members immediately dismiss it and some even want to argue about it.

Yes, I remember your post about Transformers Wave 3. It's a shame, because one of the BEST parts of forums like this is people with information on the "inside." I'd say don't stop postin' that stuff. :D

Duke was an abomination, Cobra Commander was meh, and I never could get into Destro's head. The other three were okay, but I'm not really a fan of any of those three. Would have had to come through with a good Destro and some of Zartan's crew for me. Hasbro ished the bed with their baby in Muggs.

The line was nice. Let it go to bed.

The way I see it, we are culling the herd for the other two lines. Its clear that the Marvel and Star Wars universes have a much more extensive character portfolios, with many more characters that I would rather see as Muggs.

These extra lines are nice, but if they take away from the two main lines, or god forbid, bring them down, it would be a waste.

i for one am sad to see the G.I. Joe Mighty Muggs line go. I was at least hoping to get a Zartan Mighty Mugg!

I just hope they don't restart the toy line as a G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra tie-in. Those would be horrible since all of the characters have pretty much the same black uniform.

Thats it. I mean Im 27 and I dont even care that much about Indiana Jones anymore so its hard to belive that Joe's would do well in 2009 and without the release of the new movie wich would have helped sales alot! I think as long as Marvel and Starwars are allowed to survive then so be it!

Well, OP said he read it might be cancelled. No link. No reference. Just might. I was just trying to discuss the reasons for why it may be. I never was blinded or jaded in my inferences. I just felt as though may be it wasn't. If it is, fine. I'm not dying over the fact that some toy line was cancelled. But forums are here for discussions on topics we love. The OP initially stated he wasn't sure if it was cancelled or not, so I gave reasons for if it may be. I never said I was right or OP was right. All just speculation till confirmation. If he said he read it somewhere that it might be, than why am I not allowed to ask if it is true or not? You're speaking like some be all, know all being that should be taken as some sort of professional on the topic. I'm sorry if some dude that just joined this forum this month with under 50 posts tells me that a line may be cancelled because he just read it somewhere without telling us where he read it. Other people at least pointed to sources, why can't I read that same info?

And don't talk down to me like I'm some type of retard that can't read. I know what he said. Get off it.

i wonder if the reason for the distributors to cancel the shipments of GI Joe and Transformer waves 3 is because it would be at the time when all muggs go TRU exclusive?

Noway transformers is more popular than starwars with kids. George Lucas is more of a businessman then a film maker. The check he gets from the movies is nothing compared to what he gets for merchandising rights alone. The last 3 prequel movies were 2hr long commercials for kids and the clone war shows are 22min commercials to fatten up his wallet even more.

I loved GI Joe and Transformers as a kid...like most children of the 80's, but I can see why/if hasbro is cancelling the GI/trans lines because I doubt that many kids are buying them...the people that buy them in general are probably the ones that have actually seen the original tv episodes, or that have been exposed to them by a father/uncle/older brother. These lines can't compete in sales against marvel/SW for kids. Maybe if they did the newer animated show transformers...but I still doubt even that would last. Because I think also ingeneral who are the ones buying muggs? I think the majority is adults...or high school and above.

Sad to see these lines go but, I can totally understand

That's too bad. I would have loved to get that Serpentor Mighty Mugg, and there are alot of other Muggs I would have liked to see made.

As long as we still get Muggs from other lines I am happy.
