the lounge just has a link to Toyark, so heres the link here.
Would i be right in presuming that the SDCC Logan with retractable claws would be the same Logan from the current X-Men wave?
Logan's Retractable claws, Spiderman's removable mask... Hasbro are starting to think outside of the box, what next? Reed Richards made of rubber!?

That could be the worst exclusive. As though Marvel Legends didn't have enough Wolverines Mighty Muggs can have very iteration of him as well.
Lame.
Deadpool sounds good, but I would like to move away from mutants. All of wave six, Magneto, Ice Man, now Deadpool and ANOTHER Wolverine. X-men are Marvel's least interesting property.

A deadpool mugg, isnt a very good idea... he's not a mainstream character... mostly just the die hard marvel fans know him, not really kids. Another wolverine as an exclusive? Gay. Who cares if he has retractable claws? Who plays with there mighty muggs? I doubt parents are going to buy their kid an exclusive wolverine for 40 bucks so they can screw it up. Bring on better characters already!

Nobody is ever completely happy with exclusives.
If it's a super cool character that is extremely limited, everyone who can't get it will complain that it's crap that there is a cool character that's virtually impossible to get without selling a kidney.
If it's a re-do of another character and it wouldn't kill anyone not to have it, people will complain that it is lame and that there were so many better possibilities out there.
Personally, I'm not overly excited about either of them, but I know I'm going to buy them. It's the completist in me. I can't help myself. I guess I would say that I'm happy for those who would have cried about not getting the impossible to get character, and I feel for those who are complaining that it's not something more exciting. :P

Did you actually use the word "gay" to describe something a toy? I pray you're not above the age of 15. It would be sad otherwise.
How is a Deadpool Mugg not a good idea? You just said they should only do mainstream characters and then complain about another Wolverine? Can't have it both ways. There are not a LOT of "mainstream" Marvel characters. MOST Marvel characters are only known by Marvel fans.
But aside from that, you should think logically for a moment. Deadpool has a new solo comic that is very popular. He's also going to be a big character in the Wolverine movie, with thoughts of a spinoff already going around. It's the definition of a "good idea". He will be more well known after this May, and that's a fact.
Laugh all you want, I stand by my above statement. Deadpool sucks ass.
If you read the comic, or the old Cable & Deadpool comic, you wouldn't say that. He's one of the most unique Marvel characters and the books are hilarious.
i hope it wont be hard to find like what happened with Marvel Legends deadpool.. i have no idea why he is a huge hit among collectors even though only a few knows this character..
Because some people (like the above quoted) seem to think that not mainstream = not popular. He's a fan favorite character, one of the most popular "not mainstream" characters that Marvel has.

I'm sorry for people reading to much into the posts and checking up on certain adjectives, I hope it makes you feel like a bigger person for pointing out something so mundane... I guess you we're too focused on my word usage to read what I said correctly, I stated that deadpool is not a mainstream character, I said nothing about only making mainstream characters. You should really check your quotes before trying to make a point. Also since when did everyone have a business degree on this subject?

Calling something "gay" is not mundane. It's rude, and offensive to many people. It's an ignorant and childish thing to say if you're a grown person. Please don't pretend it was some crazy thing for me to point out. I haven't heard someone say that since high school. Which is why I mentioned age, which doesn't make it okay, but it might explain why you would be ignorant to say it.
No, you didn't say anything about only making mainstream characters. You said it's not a good idea. So using common logic, that would mean that doing mainstream characters IS a good idea.
Saying it's not a good idea implies that you think they should only do mainstream characters. And if that's not your opinion, then why would you say it wasn't a good idea?

02-15-2009, 11:22 PM
Whats ignorant and childish here is the fact that you are making a big deal about a 3 letter word that has adapted into a slang for stupid and or lame. So with that being said, why don't you use your infinite logic and look at the context in which the word was used and realize it wasn't meant to offend anyone. Why don't you step off your high horse and realize everyone can't be as conservative as you and we are all raised differently in our perspectives of what is offensive or rude.
All your doing is making yourself look like a jerk by taking peoples posts and attacking them with your "logical" responses. Your entitled to your opinion just like me or the next guy, but calling me out for word usage is just lame... come on, find something else to do.

Three X-Men films = 1.1 BILLION dollars (gross) box office
Upcoming Wolverine/Logan film.
Three Spider-Man films = 2.3 BILLION dollars (gross) box office
X-Men & Spider-Man comics = consistently Marvel's top selling comic books for decades
(Please don't give me "Spider-Man 3 sucked" or "X-Men 3 blew" ... not here to debate that)
Again, WHY is there such surprise/disappointment that Spider-Man and X-Men Muggs "seem to be" dominating Marvel's Mighty Mugg line? Yes, perhaps YOU don't like Spider-Man. Perhaps YOU think X-Men (and Logan/Wolverine) suck. But SOMEONE doesn't. Someone doesn't to the tune of billions of dollars at the box office and high sales every year. It IS a business, bottom line. Hasbro isn't into toymaking for charity.
Yes, I realize it sucks for completists that don't LIKE a zillion versions of the same character. I sympathize. However, obviously SOMEone likes them, or else they simply wouldn't make them.
Before you question THREE Iron Man Muggs (a fairly obscure Marvel character OUTSIDE of comic book fans):
Iron Man film = almost Six Hundred MILLION dollars (gross) box office

I like to think that they did Destro so they could "test" how the chrome "look" was gonna turn out ... and so now they can do Colossus properly (the way they SHOULD'VE done the Silver Surfer). ;)
Also, with the dearth of female Muggs, you'd think that Storm would be a choice in the near future.
IF the Mugg line continues, look for Marvel's upcoming films, Avenger "based", to figure prominently.
I look forward to see how they handle Mr. Fantastic. I'm hopin' for some kind of Stretch Armstrong approach. :D

When he washed out of Weapon-X he was sent to Dr. Killebrews "workshop" where failed experiments were tortured, and so on. He became a part of the "Dead Pool" where inmates guessed who would die next. When he escaped he took the name.

Retroactive History, I'm sure (which comic books are famous for, of course). I'd bet money that Liefield had no more thought to his name than it sounded cool, and probably got it from the Clint Eastwood movie The Dead Pool.

Many people diss Carnage because he's an uninteresting character.
Cool design, but there's nothing to him other than being a serial killer, which is okay. Once and a while. But in the 90's Marvel overused him.
I think the current team on Amazing Spider-Man could do something interesting with him though.
Would still like a Mugg of him, since he's cool-looking, but I'd rather have Anti-Venom.

There's an Anti-Venom? I thought people were just doin' mock-ups of an "Anti-Venom" as a joke. I thought Venom was an EXTREMELY overdone character, and then they made Carnage ... THERE's creativity for you. As if Venom didn't kill enough people, oh now we'll make a "Venom" who was an actual serial killer (as opposed to photog) BEFORE he got symbioted. Oooo, cool. And now you're tellin' me there is another one? Or was this one a policeman before he is mated with a symbiote? Is that why he is "Anti" Venom? Who would be "Anti Carnage"? Every character? You mean Deadpool and Carnage? Yep. Both. 'Cause they're both ridiculously stupid, lazy (creativity-wise) rip-off characters. I read (and no one is forcing me to) a zillion posts about how much another Spider-Man Mugg sucks, how Jean Grey is ugly (agreed) and blah blah blah and I cannot criticize character choices I think are lame? You might notice that I don't just say "they suck," I put some thought into it. I explain why (MOST of the time). I don't have to, nor do I have to explain myself to any kid. I figure I will though, just to be nice and positive. :D
And, if you're telling me there was even ANOTHER Venom-like character, this Toxin, then I don't want to hear ****. Lord, that's just lazy.
Don't forget Logan. I was positive about him (I think). Do I get cookies for that?
Of course, business-wise, a Carnage Mugg would be a smart play. If you go by these boards alone, Deadpool is also a good choice. Doesn't mean I have to like 'em.

i'm curious to know how much you've actually read, story wise of the two. carnage and venom are so diffrent excludong powers. one is driven to destroy spiderman based on a personal vendetta while the other is psychotic mess bent on killing in one in sight. just because people have similar powers or origin dosn't make them a rip off, that depends on the writer. now deadpool was originally made to rip off deathstroke(wade wilson) , but over the years the two couldn't be more diffrent in personality and arcs, the only share the same profession, even then deadpool is normally painted as an antihero. now you the right to your opinion and i would never take that away, but if your rip off idea is based onpure looks or a assumption of how these charecters work then i would suggest some reseaech. appologies for bad grammer and/spelling. doing this on my phone.

You forgot the "almost" in front of every character. If you're going to defend yourself to some "kid" at least don't twist his words. As for being a kid, I agree, I am the biggest 28 year old "kid" I know...well not really, i'm only 5'7. Regardless, the last few of your posts in this thread have all simply been bashing characters, with or without "thought put into it." If you really wanted we could sit here all day and unbiasedly criticize every comic character ever made with valid points made for every single one.
Back to the original point I was trying to make. Many people come here, all with different favorite characters and i'm 100% sure that no one comes hear just to hear that character defiled.

Lord.
Carnage and Venom and Deadpool and Toxin and Anti-Venom, etc., etc., are the best characters around.
Even though I am very well aware of the background of Deadpool (as he originally came out - Deathstroke the Terminator-copy and all), Venom and Carnage, I stand completely corrected. They are terrific. Calm down, fan boys. If I didn't like comics or fans of comics, I never would've gotten into the business years and years ago and I SURE as heck wouldn't have purchased any Marvel Muggs.
Now, if there could just be no more "Spider-Man Mugg variants suck" posts, I would appreciate it. I happen to like Spider-Man. Tit for tat or, to be more "Hannibal-ish, quid pro quo.
Since it has been brought up, I happen to like the Sabretooth Mugg. ... for what that is worth.

Since they already have a "Logan" Wolverine Mugg, perhaps the SDCC one WILL be in his brown costume? He has worn many unis over the years, but his yellow one has been done, his Logan one IS done and his brown costume has to be his next most "famous," with perhaps the exception of some kind of Weapon X variant.

How can you be upset that there is gonna be a Dead-Pool figure. I have been a collector of Dead-Pool from the beginning and I am so excited. And for people that say that he is too underground will be wrong in 2 months then the wolverine movie comes out. It is so hard to get the new figure that came out. Darn collector shops keep snatching him up before I can get my hands on one. I'd love him to be underground and just skim by in sales to keep him my own little obsession but that's not the best way to see more of him all over the place. And if you are a follower of Marvel, he is a main part of the story arc that is going on right now and the past story arc with the scrulls. He was actual the main reason that they were able to get past scroll defenses. On top of that, his comic has pretty much been sellin' out in comic shops. so underground? I think not anymore.... Everyone is just realizing his awesomeness. LOL!!!

How many wolverines do we need...I seriously hope they don't do four different cyclops. It made sense with iron man, especially if you know the history and you know they'll do grey hulk and ultimates versions of everyone. I would buy a spiky Thing for sure but I'd rather have gimmicky characters or cool, pointy costume, classic characters like Yellowjacket. Why do Cap, then Ultimate Cap within 2 waves?
Yeesh, I'm wolverined out...and is it movie deadpool or classic deadpool?
You know, just once I'd like to see the one character they have never done in any line... ROM, SPACEKNIGHT...well they did an awesome doll 30 years ago but good luck getting one. He could come with his analyser and his limbo-shooting thingy.

Guess its all to do with who people most recognize, For Marvel its Wolverine or Spiderman atm (because of the movies), for Star Wars its Luke or Vader, TF is Optimus or Bumblebee and no doubt Indiana is of the Indie lines.
Hense why they will always be made with multiple copies, to draw more buyers.

I agree that the con exclusives should be more obscure characters rather than mainstream like Movie Iron Man. That thing would have sold like crazy at retail.
My opinion is that they should utilize the small body more...How about Puck?

I agree with wonton on puck. I was already thinking of making a puck custom from the bumblebee because i noticed it was small. And anyoldion is right. We need more characters before we get more versions. I mean i understand the business aspect of it, but mugg lovers like us want to see our favorite characters that only we like. I do wanna see a Deadpool, but how about Cable? Tombstone? Silver Sable? MoonKnight? Strong Guy?

I didn't want to wait for them to release an official one. I just made my own deadpool. That and a spawn, they look pretty good, but I get on here at work and can't figure out how to get past all the stupid filters and stuff to post the pics. Anyone wants to see it, send me a message and I can email it to ya! I was happy with them!

From what I remembered I saw Wolverine with retractable claws and metallic Optimus Prime at SDCC 2009.
