I sent an email to hasbro consumer affairs and this what they said to me. Don't know if this is correct but it's what they said back to me in the e-mail, their response is listed first, with my original e-mail underneath that.

Hi Anna,
Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. We are pleased to be able to respond.
The Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Short Round is tentatively scheduled to ship October 2008. All shipping dates are subject to change. This product line has not been discontinued.
Regrettably, we do not have information regarding the Entertainment Earth exclusives.
We appreciate your interest.
Customer (Anna Smoley) 09/22/2008 11:17 PM
I've heard that this line was cancelled. Does this mean that Waves 3 and 4 will not be released at all, or the line will stop after these lines. Also, what of the Sallah and Short Round Mighty Muggs exclusive to Entertainment Earth.
What's weird is that they say shortround is coming out, but no mention of Sallah. Also interesting is that they said "shipping dates subject to change." Like changed to NEVER?

What? But you just gave us information on an Entertainment Earth exclusive. Also looking at it from a business stand point I doubt they would admit to a line being cancelled, especially with stock from the cancelled line still hitting store shelves. Probably wouldn't make the company look very good to stores.

Very good point. My guess is that this person who responded to me from Hasbro wasn't completely informed, and that no more Indiana Jones Muggs are going to be made. However, combine this e-mail with what BBTS has been telling people, to EE keeping their pre-orders up but moving some dates back, this issue doesn't seem completely resolved yet.

I'm still keeping the faith that this line will survive even if it is just as exclusives from this point. It would be horrible for Hasbro to have spent the time/money/effort to create this line and get orders from distributors only to end up cancelling what has already been announced. Hopefully they will at least produce the first 4 waves and the EE exclusives before making any decisions in regard to further develoment. Maybe putting some more female Muggs into the mix would help this line too.

The ones announced and Marion and I'd be satisified. Sure I'd like more but if these were all we saw I wouldn't complain. Heck, just give me the third wave. Anything!

I don't really have a bubble to burst. I just e-mailed hasbro because I was curious, and got a more curious response. We'll see what happens, but as I mentioned in the previous posts, I'm not expecting anything. Truthfully, I don't want anymore Indy ones. I like all the mugg lines except this one, but I'm not going to ignore just ONE line, I might as well collect them all.

I don't have trouble with the lines but characters in them. I hated the new Indiana Jones movie. It was so hard to buy Mutt...arghhhh. I think I could have said no if his accesory was a vine. I also think I could say no to young anakin... maybe. I'd much rather have two Jar Jars over him.

Bingo. Mutt could possibly be my least favorite Mugg I own, with the cairo swordsman a close second. Sallah and shortround are cool characters, but they should have been in the first wave to get this line going. Now it looks like it's dead.

Indy Waves 3 & 4 are 100% without a doubt canceled. My wholesale rep at EE tells me Sallah and Short-Round will not be affected, so you can expect them in December.

Might have to pre-order the Sallah and Shortround now. I thought it was november though, no?

No, it's December. You can pre-order them now if you want. Retailers that have accounts at EE (such as myself) can place wholesale orders for them but we are not allowed to advertise them until they are in our possession. So no pre-sale anywhere but EE. I assure everyone that I'll have plenty when they come in stock.

thanks for the update! so many people were wondering what was going on! myself included, which is why i emailed them to begin with! of course, you never know if the person emailing back is giving us the correct information. thought i would give it a whirl though, and share the email with everyone here! but thanks for clearing it up for us! appreciate it :)
im sure alot of people are bummed to hear that they will be cancelled though. at least they know now, instead of waiting and hoping!

Exclusive in that they're the only ones that can buy them straight from Hasbro. They still wholesale them to other retailers.

Any more word on the production size for the EE exclusives? I'm considering purchasing a few more sets if they remain available at the end of the year.
muggcrazy
10-02-2008, 07:01 AM
I'm sure Hasbro required a minimum order from EE to produce the exclusives. That said, I have no idea what that minimum might be. My guess is that they manufacture that number or exactly how many EE pre sells if they can pre sell more than their requirement.

I noticed that Entertainment Earth now lists Waves 3+4 as cancelled, as opposed to "Pre-Order" status as of recently. I wonder what would happen if I e-mailed them again? You'd think if you e-mailed the company that makes the product you'd get the right answer

Ralph- you should try to get wave 3 as a forum exclusive. Maybe not all 3, but at least the 'Melty-Face' Nazi guy. Everyone was really looking forward to him and he'd probably sell better than most of the other Indy ones like the Swordsman.

mutt, and father jones have been spotted at a few locales --ive never seen any-- but you can find mutt @ www.hasbrotoyshop.com and both mutt and dr jones are at http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&ic=48_0&search_query=mighty+muggs&Find.x=0&Find.y=0&Find=Find with free shipping to your store. hope that helps!

idk, there was never a tremendous demand for the indy lineup from the get-go...i just have most of the lineup (about to be completed soon) because ive always been a fan...but you never know where collectors' and ppl with money burning holes in their pockets tastes lie...they are the most fickle and are usually the ones who set pricing trends...

I was wanting the Toht and Satipo though. I hate to see the line end, but if they're going to release 9 or 10 Muggs in the next Star Wars wave, they have to make room. The last thing they'd want to do is flood the market and make it to hard to keep up.

I know everytime I go to Target, there's a bunch of Indy muggs still sitting on the shelves. They didn't sell nearly as well as expected, and I believe the same holds true for the Indy Super Hero Squad figures. I never got into them, mainly because I already collect too many lines, but I kinda had a hunch also that these wouldn't last long. Most little kids have never seen the first 3 Indy movies, whereas Star Wars has the 3 Prequels to sell that line, Indy only has the Crystal Skull movie (a big movie, granted, but I don't think it was as big with kids as expected). And Marvel is a proven brand that has been a household name since before I was born, so you know they'll continue to do well, especially putting out movies like Iron Man, Spiderman 1,2 and 3, The Incredible Hulk, the F4 movies, the Blade movies, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, the X-Men movies, etc.
Teeks
01-18-2009, 02:18 PM
I don't think Indiana Jones has the same appeal as Marvel or Star Wars. The characters are all too human like. Star Wars has Aliens and Marvel has Super Heroes, kids like fiction. Indiana Jones, while still very fictional, has all human characters and situations and I don't think kids are into that. Hasbro had more expectations for Indy than they really should have. Which is a shame since I love Indy.

Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Canceled?

Hi Runell,
Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc.
The Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Vinyl figures have not been canceled. Due to records of high demand, these figures will be shown at our online shop as exclusives Summer 2009.
Regrettably, our plans to issue the stock's release have been canceled.
Please check our online store for more info:
www.hasbrotoyshop.com
We appreciate your interest.
Customer (Runell Ramos) 03/15/2008 12:09 AM
Considering the facts of widespread word that these are canceled, I wanted to ask if these were actually canceled. Numerous e-mails from fans have been circulating around forums and blogs that Hasbro sent replies stating that these are NOT canceled. From our point of view, Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs haven't been on the shelves of retail stores, online shops, and even independent shops (collectors/comics/sports). Obviously agreeing that these ARE canceled. So here's the question: Did Hasbro discontinue the line? If so, what for?
END_______________________________________________ __________
Ok.. so I'm guessing these havent been on store floors because they changed their minds of releasing it as exclusives...
hmm..

What does this line mean?
The exclusive route sounds nice (in the idea that they may still release them) but dammit, I'm starting to hate all this exclusive crap. I guess they only do it to make it seem as though they're limited so they'll sell more, but I mean it seems like every new wave coming out has been an exclusive.

the way its worded, sounds like maybe they will have hasbrotoyshop.com exclusives (possibly unveiled and sold at SDCC?). well, if this holds out to be true, there is hope for all "muggs in limbo"; GI JOE, TRANSFORMERS, and the like. although hasbro isnt very dependable for answering questions accurately, this bit of news is exciting, weird, and confusing...

What it means is that they will continue to sell their remaining Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs, that they already have in stock, on their web site, until they run out.
They may even (and this is stretching it) produce more of the figures that have come out already, to be sold exclusively on their web site.
