I thought it would be really nice if we had a itrader for this forum. Its basically a feedback link/display for all those who bought/sell/trade/etc. Muggs from fellow Members.
And rep bars just for the fun of it. Its basically people give you rep and a colored bar or block appears showing how much you are known in this forum. Its all for fun and I'm pretty sure it would get people posting up more than usual...
Here is an example from my old IS300 forum;

"Addict" is a label for those with over 2000 posts... 1-100= Newbie, 100+"label of admins choosing" and so on...
The colored bar starts off with 1 blue and once you get atleast 100 of those...you are then granted with another color and it adds up eventually.
The toy train and spade are just badges for those that joined in the ToyDrive or entered a Hold Em tournament
Here is an example when you click on the iTrader link

Shows all the basics as if it were on ebay...
And yes this is my rep in the other forum and some others :D
Its just a suggestion.

yeah, like many other forums im on, that would be awesome/useful...that is, until people start abusing the rep power, but who cares, theyre colored squares you get from people half a country away...the most important thing is the iTrader rating anyway...

Rep power is all fun and games! Plus it would get people posting replies instead of being lurkers. And the post count thing would be cool too!

I think this would be a great idea. Don't forget about the chat feature either, you said that was in the works too way back in December.

Definitely a great idea. I support implementing it.
*edit* - i assume the post count would be retroactive. haha.

I definitely would like iTrader at least. It works great on CAG and would be a lot easier than the feedback thread.

I like the idea of iTrader but I think the rep bar is just not a good idea. Having a lot of posts doesn't really mean much if you ask me. There's plenty of people that have TONS of posts that rarely contribute anything of value. If there were some way to do Rep like Digg where other members give or take a point away for posts I think that'd be a more valuable judge of reputation.

Slickdeals has a rep system that works like that. Other members have to hand out reps. It works well actually. It doesnt get abused by just handing reps out to anyone....and if you ask for reps, or think you deserve them, you will get flamed in no time.

i believe the general thought is that the rep bar would be just for fun and not really to be taken seriously. and determining the "value" of other peoples posts isn't really necisarry.

The only problem I have with the rep bar is it might create some elitist mentality with some members.

true, but if it has no official value or anything. then people who think they are elite are really just fooling themselves.

yes exactly. Im pretty sure people wont be punks on this forum if we were to get the rep bar. I think -reps will be given to people that over price their muggs :0

never cared for the rep bar thing but iTrader is a good suggestion. we can keep track of all the good and honest sellers...

I like this idea! I also frequent another site that used rep bars, and it seems like it's more of a tool than a "popularity contest" measuring stick. I realize that people who tend to post more than 2-5 posts a day will have an advantage, just because of exposure throughout different threads... BUT, if it will encourage more people to post, then why not try it and see where it goes?
I am not familiar with the iTrade bar specifically, but I do think rep bars and the ability to reward someone for a really good post is an excellent idea. :)

Sorry, there was never any "working" versions of iTrader for VB 3.x. The original guy who created iTrader did not have time to update it anymore. The new guy that took over the coding couldn't seem to perfect it. Then, he tried to sell the code for money to someone else. Eventually, it has now been taken over by someone else and it appears that he is still working on making things perfect. Don't worry, I have been following iTrader for a while and am only willing to install it if it "works" properly.
It appears that everyone has been doing well with the feedback threads and we haven't had any problems.
I'm currently testing and working on upgrading to VB 4.0 but there are a LOT of problems with it. They just recently released it not too long ago but I'm going to wait till most of the bugs are worked out.
Unfortunately, upgrading a this forum isn't an easy 1-2-3 step process. There's a lot of planning and testing. Moving versions means almost everything may not work for the new version.
I'm doing the best I can with what I have. Unfortunately, its very hard to satisfy everyone. I'm sorry you feel disappointed.

Thanks for clarifying everything. Hopefully it will come sooner than we think. I just think the rep system (colored bars or what not) would be fun and attract people to sign on and actually register to the forum instead of people lurking all the time.
