Here is a scenario, I am just curious to your responses.
If you sell something on ebay. Everything goes well. The buyer pays fast, and you get the item shipped out and the buyer gets it and is happy. BUT they(buyer) dont leave feedback, none. Do you as the seller leave negative feedback simply because the buyer didnt leave any?
Just curious.

Nope, I just simply ask the Seller to leave feedback. Once they leave feedback first then I add mine. I usually never add feedback first.

I thought buyers couldn't get negative anymore. Right? This is so your not afraid to tell a seller what you really think, not just something positive in hopes of getting positive yourself. IF you can give them negative, they'll obviously return the favor in give you a negative.

well. I was browsing an ebay members feedback and noticed they did just this. Left negative feedback just because the buyer didnt leave anything. Stay classy new jersey!

just left some feedback for a seller today and something popped up saying that sellers can't give neutral or negative feedback, so a buyer can be honest. i think you meant to say that anyways, but just to be sure.

I've seen a Positive - Negative feedback left with the new rules.
basically it is a positive for the numbers sake. however, the actual content of the feedback is negative.
ie + BEWARE! buyer does not leave feedback!!

Yes, Lite, that's exactly what I meant.
Getting back to your original question, now moot of course but I used to do 500-1,000 auctions a month so it happened quite a bit...
1. For whatever reason most buyers want feedback left for them first (one of the reasons eBay stepped in with their horrible policy). I am a big fan of their star system though. As a seller, I had it written into my policies that I don't leave feedback until I receive it from the buyer, which brings me to point 2...
2. No sane seller should ever leave feedback first as it leaves them little or no recourse if they get NEG'd for no good reason (that happens quite a bit). Look at it this way: If you owned a B&M store, you know that when your customer walks out the door with their product, they're satisfied with it and the transaction is complete. On eBay, the only way you know your customer is satisfied and the transaction is complete is when they leave you feedback.
3. If they don't leave you feedback, it isn't something to get upset about. It happens...A LOT. Why risk irritating someone who's likely perfectly happy with their purchase that might buy something from you again in the future? I've had plenty of people who never left me feedback once buy multiple times.
Is that why I don't eBay any more? No. I never had a single customer leave me a NEG and I don't think it would have changed. They restructured their business in a way that basically makes it impossible for a small business to make any money. It's perfectly fine if you're Buy.com and can negotiate your rates or someone that sells 1 or 2 things every now and then, but everyone else is getting the shaft.
