I liked Hellboy 1 better than 2. 2 didn't have John Meyers, so I was sad.

The last movie I saw at home was Run Fatboy Run, and the last at the theater was The Mummy 3.

Rented The Happening and Forgetting Sarah Marshall last night... so those were the last movies I saw... The Happening was eh... but Forgetting Sarah Marshall was pretty funny! XP o0o0 Extended version.

I really can't think of any movies that I want to actually go to the theaters for right now. The good movies probably are gonna come out around the holiday season. Saves me $11, well actually it gets spent on muggs... but you know. hahah!

Already answered!

The last film I saw was a film called Irreversible

Its a very dark french film about revenge and not for the faint hearted. It is one of the most amazing films I have ever seen and I reccomend any one watching it as long as they can stomach it.

I also watched Hellboy 2 this week and thought it was preety boring and soulless imo.

Indy 4 was the last movie I watched, which in my opinion, isn't as bad as everybody says. All the Indy movies are filled with unbelievable acts and stunts, not just the fourth. Not to mention Aliens aren't any harder to believe than a chest full of face melting spirits sealed away by god. The main problem with the movie is the fact that everything would have been the same even if Indy didn't get involved. If the Russians found the Skull and returned it, the same fate would have fallen upon them as it did with Indy's help. He accomplished nothing.

Anyway, the last movie I actually saw in theatres was Eagle Eye which was decent at best.

Haven't been to the movie theater since I saw The Dark Knight. Saw several in the theater this summer, but it hit a dry spell for me after that one. Would like to go see RockNRolla, Madagascar 2 and Quantum of Solace now, though. Definitely will see QoS during Thanksgiving week when I go home. Dad likes to when my brother and I make it home, so I'll be doing that with him for sure. I know it probably won't be as good as Casino Royale, but I'm still looking forward to it.

Twilight. Lol, and I thought it was really good.

The Covenant, was...okay at best. I mean, decent plot, a little different, it's worth a rental or free on VOD.

Twilight I thoroughly enjoyed and might go see again. :D Plus, there were a few parts that set it aside from other movies, and I thought that gave it a step up.

Hahaha, a comment as expected from a man. *Tsk tsk* I'll have you know, that when they first cast Edward (Robert Pattison), millions of girls were angry because they thought he was ugly and looked like a troll. The author of the book, Stephenie Meyer, wanted to apologize to his mother for "ruining her sons life."

So, our little Cedric from Harry Potter, obviously earned those screams from the ladies because he pulled the part off, and he did it well.

And don't act like you don't appreciate Kristen Stewart in the leading lady's role...

"They say," huh? Don't critique a movie based on others, watch it yourself. Yes, you may not like it, but I thought it was thoroughly good and haven't heard much negativity from your average John or Jane who saw it.

However, I am a 'lady' and am totally into the romantic stuff ;) even if it is the supernatural.

Now, if you're the (talks in deep voice) I only watch action movies while pounding on my chest type of guy, then yeah, maybe this movie isn't for you.

I saw this movie in IMAX on Sunday... yea I liked it, but I think I was expecting more. Prolly cuz I saw the old one and already had things in mind that they could have improved. LOL @ "dull and flat"... least in the 1951 version Michael Rennie had more personality... but then again... it IS Keanu. ;)

I saw Twilight too, was waiting for some friends to finish reading the book. Man, if you didn't read the book and saw this movie... I'd have to say it sucks. I absolutely LOVE Rob Pattinson as Edward, but eek the movie was so choppy and had no explanation of things. Lame! As someone that has read the book, I kinda was disappointed. I hope for New Moon, the new director takes the time to explain things.

[COLOR="DarkOrchid"]I saw this movie in IMAX on Sunday... yea I liked it, but I think I was expecting more. Prolly cuz I saw the old one and already had things in mind that they could have improved. LOL @ "dull and flat"... least in the 1951 version Michael Rennie had more personality... but then again... it IS Keanu. ;)

i dL'ed the 1951 film out of curiosity coz i always heard from critics that the original was better.. well it was a bit but still hanging in the end and it didnt showcase the humans wanting peace afterall that was the main reason why klatu came to earth to tell us that we humans are savage and doesnt deserve to live.. still i havent seen it in the old movie..

i like keanu especially in matrix and constantine he was perfect for the role though and in the film i could imagine some scenes in keanu's previous movies like when klatu was interrogated with a polygraph machine (i think) i was imagining the man to address klatu "mr. anderson" like in the matrix movie wherein neo was captured by mr. smith hahaha and then during the last scene of TDTESS, where klatu jumped in the middle of that swarm it was like one of the scenes in constantine when john constantine went to hell..

i just watched step brothers yesterday. it was pretty funny, i liked the story of it alot... but it wasnt as funny as 40 year old virgin. now, that movie is FUNNY! i dont know why i chose to compare these two... oh well.

by the way, i loved twilight. i saw the movie before i read the book. and im glad i did it that way. i liked being able to put a face to the name when i read the book. it helps because edward is so HOT! it makes the books alot better for me :)
i usually like to read the book before i see the movie, but in this case, im glad i saw the movie first.
i hopped on the twilight band wagon! haha, im a twilight noob :)

I'm a total Twilight fan and I must say that the movie was VERY dissapointing. If anything it gave horrible visuals to what was described in the book. Rosalie looked nothing like you would imagine from the book, she should have been WAY WAY WAY hotter. You should never watch the movie first if you plan to read the book. It's just laziness to not think of your own characters. Stephanie Meyer is no John Steinbeck or anything but she does a pretty good job at describing her characters. There's no need to watch the movie to get a "visual". If you liked the Twilight series, I highly recommend HOST by Stephanie Meyer.

I'm with you on that lite. I understand when you read a book you can become a fan, that you always want the movies to depict the book, but...

It's never going to happen. It may come close, but most people don't get that you really can't compare books and movies because one has many limitations over the other.

I haven't read the Twilight series yet, I'm waiting till I see the movies.

I love Harry Potter, and have been there midnight of opening night for every movie; this summer will be no different. But, because I started watching the movies first, I will not read the books until after I watch all seven.

Hey, the Da Vinci Code movie was exactly like the book and there are other movies similar to their book counterparts as well. The fact is... the director totally messed up on Twilight. It's like you're seeing 30% of the whole story. Speaking of Dan Brown books, I can't wait for Angels & Demons May 09... that'll be pimp! Wo0o0o0o0o!

Anyone see the trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine? *sigh* I don't like how Gambit looks in this one...

Some say the same thing about Harry Potter *shrugs* and I still love the films.

That's normally why it's based on a book or a true story. I personally never compare a book to the movie, it can many times lead to disappointment.

However, I did watch the trailer for Wolverine the other day. I am stoked. I love Hugh...mmm. I, initially thought the same about Gambit, since I've always loved him, but I went and looked at the guy and reviewed him, and he seems good enough to me. I won't say anything before I see it, since many times actors can surprise you, lol.

But wouldn't it be likely that he sucks?

nah sometimes it happens. there's been a few times i've seen the movie first, either because i didn't know there was a book or just wasn't into the books/author. I had no idea Fight Club was a book when I first saw the movie, ended up reading the book and loved it way more then the movie. Same thing with A Clockwork Orange. It had been recommended to me and I just watched it without knowing anything about it. I loved it, read the book (the british version) and now its my favorite book. I saw the Sum of All Fears, knowing there was a book but not really caring, just wanted to see an action movie, and then I started reading the Jack Ryan books. Although I agree reading the book first is much advised, sometimes it doesn't happen

Yeah, I say I have the intention of reading Twilight, lol, but I don't know if I will. I have a few paranormal/supernatural novels, and the supernatural tends to lean towards the Maggie Shayne series.

I saw The Day The Earth Stood Still, finally. It was alright. Not a masterpiece or anything... It was nothing like the original. The only thing I really didn't like was the ending. He just left and Gort disappeared (after he became those weird parasite things). I would rate it 2/5.

Also recently I got The Dark Knight on DVD. I've watched it like 4 times already :D . I just have to rate it 5/5. So many memorable scenes. And Two-Face was done perfectly. It has the best Joker ever, for sure, Heath Ledger. I just can't wait until Gotham City (the third new Batman movie) comes out, when ever it does. Johnny Depp as The Riddler is a perfect idea.

Rented a couple of movies for the family this last weekend:

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - While I found the first Madagascar film to be only slightly amusing (and most of that amusement was from the penguins and lemurs), I laughed quite a bit during this sequel and smiled throughout the movie. Though I find Alec Baldwin's political views to be bordering on the moronic, he remains one of the funniest guys around (especially on 30 Rock), and was a terrific addition to the cast. The filmakers understood what was fun in the first film and that is, as mentioned, more of the penguins. My oldest son said that Moto Moto reminded him of ... me. He may think better of that once his bedroom banishment is over. ;)

Open Season 2: Personally, I thought the first one was fairly unfunny. This sequel, however, managed to take "unfunny" to a new low. It was almost Anti-Funny. I didn't even chuckle once and, the true test, my eight-year-old laughed maybe twice, and one of those laughs sounded forced. I rented it for $1 and even that was too much. Spare yourself the wasted 111 minutes.

Rented both Space Chimps and Prince Caspian this last weekend. The family and I liked them both. Even my two-year-old wanted to see it more than once. He got the dvd and said "Micos! Micos!" Heh. ... and then I reminded him that CHIMPS ARE NOT MONKEYS!! :p;)
Anyway,
Space Chimps got far more chuckles out of me than I thought it would, goin' in. :D
Prince Caspian inspired my eight-year-old to start reading The Chronicles of Narnia series (that I have). So, anything that inspires a kid to read is great in my book (no pun intended). :D

A couple of nights ago, I finally saw The Seven Samurai. Naturally, I've seen several of the movies "inspired" by it (and both The Magnificent Seven, The Three Amigos and A Bug's Life are my favorites), but I had never seen the entire The Seven Samurai before. It was, of course, very good. I found myself matching up each Samurai with his counterpart in The Magnificent Seven, though I noticed the youngest guy in The Magnificent Seven, Horst Buchholz (heh, a German playing a Mexican), is actually a combination of the youngest samurai and Toshiro Mifune's character. Anyway, great film.

Yesterday I rented The Rocker and Mrs. Eggs and I watched it last night.

What was almost as funny as this movie (and it was funny), was that Mrs. Eggs had no idea what was coming, specifically the "YouTube" part. :D I won't toss in any spoilers other than that, but if you've seen a trailer, you know what I'm talking about. ;):D

Much more amusing than even I expected and Mrs. Eggs liked it a lot. She compared it to School of Rock. Not exactly life-changing, but funny and with a good message. :D

Bit cheesy and cliched in places but good action and really good cinematography.

"I'm here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum." Hah! One of the best Cheesy lines EVER! :D

Rented a couple of movies over the weekend:
My wife and sons saw Beverly Hills Chihuahua in the theater. They wanted me to watch it, so I rented it and we all watched it Friday night. Sigh. I suppose since I lament the fact that there are so few good non-animated family movies I should be glad that this film came out and my family enjoyed it. For myself, I chuckled a few times, but that was about it. For full disclosure, I should say that we have two chihuahuas at home. I don't like them. Anyway, I wanted to like the film, if only to please my family. I tried, and it had a happy story, I just didn't think it was all that funny. And, speaking of that ...

My brother said I should rent Step Brothers. He said that it was better than Will Farrell's other movies. Ugh. He was wrong. Mercifully, Mrs. Eggs fell asleep on the couch about a half hour in (obviously, the kids were asleep already). I chuckled twice, mainly out of embarrassment. It was terrible. 'Nuff said.

Watched Jack Brooks Monster Slayer and Repo! The Genetic Opera last night. Monster Slayer was halfway decent. I might buy it in about 6 months or so when I want to watch it again. As for Repo! Ugh. That movie was absolutely horrible. I think it was the opera aspect with the fact that everyone sings their dialogue. Its not that I'm close minded to the opera its just that it apparently isn't my thing. Along with that the story was really hard to follow.

Rented two movies over the weekend:

Bolt - Family liked it. The animation was top notch. The guys from Pixel have obviously been working more closely with the Disney animators, now that they're "one." The story was ... meh. Could've been funnier, but I did chuckle and laugh out loud a few times. :D

Punisher: War Zone - I STILL don't know if it's a sequel to the Thomas Jane one, or a re-boot. I suppose it really didn't matter that I haven't seen the Jane one, as this one stood on it's own. I think one of the reasons I've not seen the Thomas Jane version is that I just don't see him as the Punisher. Ray Stevenson, on the other hand, IS the Punisher. :)

As far as the rest of the film went: Mediocre, at best. If it wasn't a Punisher movie, I might even say it was fairly ridiculous. The massive amounts of violence were fine, the action scenes fine, but the gore was for the most part fairly ludicrous. I mean, I actually laughed at a couple of things that weren't there to inspire chuckles. And, hey, I say you're a gang-banger for life and I've only known you for a day but, please, come guard this woman and child that have a death mark on 'em, while I'm gone. What?

His skull could've been a bit more prominent here and there ... didn't bug me too much, though.

Saw an oldie the other night, Yours, Mine and Ours (1968), starring Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball (and a young Tim Mathieson). It's about a guy and gal (pre-Brady Bunch) who each have somethin' like 8 or 9 kids each, they decide to get married and the chaos ensues, blah blah blah.

But, anyway, the FUNNIEST thing about the entire movie is that Fonda and Ball go food shopping for the clan, and they are literally filling cart upon cart full of food. They get to the register and the cashier rings everything up. The receipt is about TEN MILES LONG and the total bill is .... $126. ROFL. My wife and I looked at each other and both said, "I wish." Hah! :D

Good times ... good times ... (ok, I was only 2 in 1968, but still ... )
