Can anyone explain WHY hasbro went with indiana jones?
I get there was a lot of hype when they were released cuz of the movie, but I still dont get it.
Star wars, gi joe and, marvel and transformers ALL had popular toy lines already. Muggs seem like an obvious spinoff. The same isn't true for indy.

I don't know why other than the fact that they have the licensing rights. The same could be said for IJ Mr. Potato Head and IJ Lego as well but I'm sure glad that they did! All of the Mighty Muggs lines released up to this point are based on recently released movies and are also well known toy lines from the past. Back when Indy came out in 1981, there were many toys available but unlike Star Wars, Lucasfilm didn't continuously generate new products in an ongoing capacity. Many Indy fans (me included) have been "Jonesing" for new stuff for a long time...a long time (sorry for the confusing Obi Wan reference). I've been loving all of the new stuff coming out including the Titanium Series diecast vehicles. I have already commited to buying at least 10 of the announced Indy Mighty Muggs and have created a wishlist of 17 more that would help fill out the line. Here's hoping that these do well in sales so we can see many more.

I personally like maybe 5 of them, Indy, Monkeyman,Mutt Williams, Dr Jones and Indy a Tux. The rest I can do without how ever. And of course if they ever make a Shortround, I will buy him in a SECOND!

When they make a Short Round, I hope he is made with the same smaller legs that they used for Yoda.

Short Round is a hardcore must! I really want the SDCC Fertility Idol, too.
Many people don't like this new movie and I can't for the life of me see why. It was pretty good in my book. We need more Indy toys in my opinion.

Probably when hasbro got the go ahead from lucas to make star wars mighty muggs, Lucas probably talked them into making the Indiana Jones MM as well. Who knows.

Hmmm... I know the Indy muggs probably aren't as popular as the Star Wars or Marvel muggs, but I kinda like them. You can tell they aren't so popular because they are almost always available on the Hasbro site. LOL! It's true that only like 5 of em are actually pretty coolies... All I know is that I want to get all the Harrison Ford muggs and line them up. Bwahaha!

I love the Indy muggs....although I think there are better charactors to create. I especially love the idol. That would be cool if they made like "treasures of Indiana Jones" ...but are there any more they could make? Possibly a Mugg made out of clear plastic with a crystal skull???

Short Round, and I'm done. They are more or less all cool in their way. They just don't speak to as many people as Marvel or SW do.

I'd want to get Short Round, make a mine cart, and stick him and Indy in it. That'd be awesome.

Are they selling though? I always see Indy muggs sitting on the shelves. The problem with Indy Muggs is the same problem with the Lego Indiana Jones game. Although I like the Indy brand, there just isn't enough characters. Too many "general" characters like Cairo Swordsman, Nazi soldier, etc. Stormtroopers could fall under this "general" character classification, but they're so cool though! However...I'm addicted to Mighty Muggs so I'll be buying all Indy ones.

I think there are enough Indy characters for at least 6 more core characters to be done and 12 less important on top of that. And I'm only counting stuff from the first 3 movies so this number could grow. If Hasbro dedicates their efforts, Indy Muggs could be a large collection for consumers to treasure.

meh, im just not as attached to indy characters, but thats just me. i kinda regret buying any indy ones, but ive already bought the first 3, and have like 4 more coming that i bought online. when i think about it, i should have just used that money to get venom or something. i try not to think about it though :s

I think they should make a big round ball like in the movie, so you can just steam roll over all the Indy Jones Mighty Muggs. :) Just kidding. You know what would be great is to have some background scenery from the movies to display them on.

Well, you are assuming that no one likes Indiana Jones because sounds like you aren't really a fan. I really always liked the movies and I have all the Muggs and am glad for them. And the fact that Indiana Jones never really had much toy representation is actually exactly why I am happy they are now in Mugg form.
My nephew for instance is obsessed with the Indiana Jones Lego figures. I think its filling a niche just like anything else is.

Lucas made Star Wars and Lucas made Indiana Jones. Hasbro loves money and Lucas always cashes in. Unfortunately the Indiana toys suck butts hardcore! The muggs are the only decent figure in the entire toy line.

I think they were banking on the 4th movie actually being good like the other 3.....the 4th one ruined it for me...enough to where its why i dont pick up the indy Muggs...regardless indy as a MM line isn't well thought out anyway...the only appealing ones to me were Indy, Henry Jones, & Short Round....everything else as a mugg didn't excite. Hasbro saw this coming which i think greenlit the gijoe/transformers line, that and the movies coming out for those lines...

I'm pretty sure it was a cash in on the fourth movie being released and it didn't work how they planned. But another possible reason, and this is a stretch, is that, at one point, all of these franchises (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Transformers & GI Joe) had comic book series' published by Marvel. So, that could be a reason....maybe.
