really only 3008 peter parker?

i read that there was only 3008 peter parkers made. i see this mugg in stock at just about every online store,is he really unpopular?? i would think venom being such a hit and movie iron man being so hard to find anywhere that a limited run peter would sell like hot cakes. or did they start making more at some point?

for awhile you could find peter parker regularly for $30, like on BBTS for example. then they said "sold out" finally so i thought that was that unless one were to go on ebay, but now they are back at BBTS, but for $40! i think most like iron man better but peter parker has its share of fans too. the price is going up so i think its somewhat popular.
