Nobody knows for sure. Hasbro has kept everything on the down low. But based on a conversation with some of the Hasbro people at Comic Con, they wanted to release Muggs from major comic book movies that come out. But, even that isn't even really a solid confirmation that it is discontinued.

This has been an ongoing discussion but Hasbro still releases them. IE: SDCC Iron Man flip mask and Prowl and the Mini Muggs late last year.

So, nobody really knows...

No Thor or Captain America Muggs don't bode well .......if nothing is released for SDCC then who knows .....little Nicky might know when they release hints of the exclusives. I am trying to draw something out of Hasbro. But I don't think they are going to talk.

In the past, I think we've seen leaks of the SDCC exclusives at least by Toy Fair (which just happened and muggs were a no show). It seems like every year there's less time between a "leak" and when they're revealed. =/

It would be nice if at the very least they just produced and sold blanks through vinyl shops or TRU or whatever so that there will be an endless supply of muggs to customize. =)

I emailed the list provided by potishen and here's what I got.....
Me:I was curious when/if the Mighty Muggs showcased at SDCC last summer will be produced. I have collected every Marvel Mugg made and will continue to do so until the day it ends. I also customize my own. Being one of many avid Muggs fans active on the Mighty Muggs forum, I am nervous whether or not the series is dead. With two new Marvel movies coming, I feel it would be an opportune time to release new Muggs. With such a huge following, it would be a shame to let the line die. Be prepared to get these obnoxious emails every so often from a loyal fan :)
Thank you

and the reply:
Hello Eric,

Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm for Hasbro’s Mighty Muggs line. We will continue to offer Mighty Muggs, but the line will not be as broad as it has been in previous years. Please continue to check the brand websites for any further updates.

Best,
Joe Moscone

lol who needs blanks!? 5 below is an easy place to get them and if you search around online you can sometimes find the popular muggs for like 3 a piece ...i know there has to be a buttload of muggs sitting in storage somewhere because our TRU puts stuff out now that came out like a year ago so and every other store in this rea definately does not keep up on stocking the toy section because its not their best seller (walmart, target, kmart, etc) so who knows whats in their backrooms in some corner behind pallettes of shampoo lol

congrats? lmao dont get your hopes up too high their buddy ...we'd be lucky to get 1 mugg per movie released since hasbro is releaseing merchandise to coincide with the release of movies...im pretty sure there wont be any movie thor muggs or cap muggs in stores ...maybe as SDCC exclusives but most likely not in stores ...id hope for some new class muggs but im 100% sure that wont happen

My thoughts were more if they are killing muggs to perhaps go the route of KR munnys and rework them to be a cheaper blank DIY toy with some random accessories. Otherwise, so long as character muggs are still in production, I agree that the best route to go for making customs is cheap muggs that you prime yourself.

I know. I've gotten more heartfelt responses from those live chats when it's obvious they're just picking and choosing automated responses as opposed to actually answering your question.

I still need to send my emails. I'll do that later.

yeah but hasbro isnt about DIY toys so im sure they wont go that route even though the market is good, theres so many choices already so theres would have to be good and cheap ..and TRU would never carry KR stuff because KR would never stoop that low lol ...they are a pain in the butt to get ahold of since there are few KR stores and most areas like mine dont have any stores that carry specialty vinyls/toys like that

and hasbro will never release specific info about their products unless we find someone who works for them or knows someone who works for them because they wouldnt want a plain jane consumer spreading rumors about whats coming out ...they think the auto responses are enough to satisfy peoples questions

4 marvel movies between this spring-summer and no leaks..hopefully theres one or two released @ SDCC. Personally the star wars mini muggs were nice but would have done so much better if they would have released a marvel mini muggs line instead/with or kept to the original planned schedule of waves.

So is there any new marvel muggs coming out?

potishen
03-04-2011, 01:25 PM
I think since Marvel does not even have there prototypes anymore it's probably not going to happen. From what I can piece together the Prototypes Matt got were painted by a secondary design house for display at SDCC 2009. The place in hong kong that was selling Prowl and ironhide produced I think at least 3-4 each of those Muggs Prowl was then put through as an exclusive Mugg for SDCC 2010. I also know for sure the Hong Kong Seller has semi painted Muggs of Ice man , green goblin and I think Magneto from the pictures she has sent me. Only the arms and legs were painted. Maybe these were at one time going to be the next wave?
But iceman had his iceball and goblin his pumpkin. I do not think these made it any further than test or pre painting. I think they produced some mockups here in the USA ,marvel Indy and maybe GI Joe and Ahsoka . That never made it to Hong King to even start test painting. Anyone else have any ideas?

Yeah, I don't even know the seller that matcandraw got his muggs from.

The seller Matt used is based Warwick , Rhode Island .............Hasbro is based in Pawtucket , Rhode Island so its pretty easy to piece together that Hasbro or someone with Hasbro either owned or gave them away to someone and they weren`t planning on using them again. I emailed Chris Hicks the designer of most of the Muggs he said once the designs are out of his hands he really doesn`t know where they go. The only Mugg he had was the Ahsoka Mugg which he put in the Star Wars Mugg auction. He said he had people coming up to him at SDCC 2010 asking about the Deadpool Mugg and thats when he realized it hadn`t even been released to retail.

I'm always a Mighty Bugg in Hasbro's ear at SDCC, but there usually is little knowledge there as well.. last year I lucked out & found an artist that was in the know, but everything he said (about the lines coordinating w/ the movies) hasn't come true, so...

I met the President of Hasbro @ the Transformers 2 premiere when that came out & basically bent his ear the whole night about how dedicated we all are to this line of toys. He was very excited to hear about it, but realistically the decision is probably in much lower hands.

It just seems silly to me that something that has such a low production cost can't be continued. I think we'd all be willing to pay $19.99/Mugg or maybe even $24.99? Or produce in a limited run? I dunno, I feel like the demand is there so the problem could be fixed very easily by adjusting price or quantity.

I totally agree...................its not like they have to resculpt all the time. Most of it is paint application and they have already used a cheaper plastic than vinyl for the head. And as much as I would hate it I could live with a generic box.

I just got this very generic response:

Thanks for your email. Regrettably, we do not have any additional information to share regarding Mighty Muggs at this time. I would be happy to retain your contact information and update you if we hear otherwise.
