Got it today for PS3. IT. IS. AWESOME. If you get it at Target you get a free MU figure. I got A.I.M. soldier.

So far it is a really good game. The characters are a lot more balanced. Kinda sad there is no Sabretooth or Venom. My gamertag is SOULdierFUmang on XBOX if you want guys want to play.

It comes in a tin with a prequel comic book. It also give you a token to download the two new characters (Jill Valentine and Shuma) when they are released.

I picked it up for XBOX 360 but work is so crazy I haven't cracked it opened yet. Can't wait to play it, although I probably suck on the XBOX 360 controller. I'm currently in the beginning phase of building my own custom arcade stick. Hopefully that works out and I can really play. I was too late to pre-order the special edition. Very sad as Jill was my fav character on MVC2. Not to mention no Strider which is my fav from MVC1 (see icon). Can't remember my gamer tag as I haven't been on for a few months but will look to play some of you if you're on!

My understanding was that Jill is only downloadable if you bought the special edition and is given the "secret code". Correct me if I'm wrong. This is one time I'm hoping to be wrong!

I don't think Capcom would do that because it really doesn't make any sense for them to do that. They would loose out on the money made by selling the DLC. I think the special edition just gives the free download token for the DLC content that is going to be released in the marketplace. If you didn't get the special edition then you would just need to cough up Microsoft points or what ever the PS3 credits are to get the DLC.

God I can't fathom how many quarters I dropped into Marvel v. Capcom arcade machines. I will definitely check this out.

Ah good point, well I hope you're right. I wouldn't mind dropping a few points for Jill, don't much care for the other character. I didn't like him much in MVC2.

I played today, it's really cool. Not sure if it's a buy though.

Finally cracked mine open. Gameplay is similar to MVC2 but buttons set up is way different than before. Seems like they cut down on the combo button as much as they can to make it simplier for more players to do combos. It's going to take a lot of getting used to because i'm old school and is used to pressing 1,2,3,4,5,6 kinda combo. There's no differentiation kicks and punches anymore. It's just light, medium, heavy and a special button. If you want to get better, play the missions and training. It does teach you quite a bit about how the new combos are done. I'm liking it more and more.

Yeah, i think they simplified the button system more so that new players would not be so intimidated.

I heard the point is not to see how many complicated combos you can do but more about strategy and combination of characters. Have anyone been about to roll out yet? I haven't played enough but it seems that when you get hit to the ground you can still get knocked back up and there's no roll out. If that's the case then infinities would be too easy and this game would be crap. I'm going to see if I can do a roll out when I get home after work.

I believe the PS3 version is only 720p...
Not sure what the 360 is but for some reason I've noticed a lot of games are ported to the x-box at 1080p and for the ps3 they are at 720p... I think it's changing now but in the very recent past that's the way it's been - i've noticed it for a lot of the sport games.

i noticed that too. but isn't 1080p only available on blu ray dvd's? that's why i wondered. the special edition says blu ray but the regular doesn't.

I also bought the game a couple of days ago. I went to Target and plan on buying the basic version but with luck, I found The Special Edition Version. So I got that.

The game is fun. A bit different with the button layout and such. The endings are "Ok."

Sorry about that. You had me on the run though the other day with Ammy there. She's wicked fast and with the proper assist pressure I was just trying to get a few hits in.

I seem to be at a strange impasse. I'm still getting used to consistently pulling off motions on my new arcade stick, but the button presses are much easier on it than the pad. so I keep trying to get it right, which may be why it seems i'm being merciless.

There are roll outs, just not on every hit. It appears different attacks cause different types of knockdown. some are roll-able, some are crumple, and some are OTG combo capable.

I'm not even bothering to get that trophy. Which sucks because it's one of the few I haven't achieved yet. I'm at like 88% right now or something.

I think I'm at 92%. I've got about 75 more missions to go, then I need to get a 5 game win streak in ranked, and fight or become "1st" class. I've gotten 4 game streaks a few times now but can't get that 5th.
