Smooth Apoxie to Mugg edges

Hello everyone, quick question. I am doing my first custom and have no experience customizing or working with apoxie. so of course my first mugg i am doing, i choose to add on liberally to the head :)

i am stuck at figuring out if there is any way to get a completely smooth apoxie to mugg surface transition. The sculpting came out good,but with the base coat of paint over it all...the edges are too apparent for my tastes.

There are some places a hard edge is fine, but some of it i want to look like part of the original head... do i have any options to do this or is it something that goes with the territory?

well, when sculpting, just mooth out the apoxie with water until its very close to being flush with the head.

then after it dries, use different grit sandpaper to reduce the edge
