yeah! i am just starting to watch it. What can you guys say when Brock Lesnar defeated Randy Couture? I am a WWE fan, but didn't really want Lesnar to beat a MMA legend like Couture but it seems, Lesnar is too big, toofast too young for Randy. Cannot wait for the next UFC big event.

I´m huge Wanderlei Silva fan.
ps: I have to say, almost all brazilian guys rock... they are the best MMA fighters.

I am a fan of:

- Wanderlei
- BJ
- A. Silva
- Vera (Although he isn't that good, I have to give him props because he is a filipino in the UFC)

Brock beating Couture was a suprise btw. Looks like he is a force that has potential in the UFC not that he has proven himself to be worthy.

Lesnar is a dbag. His overall skills suck, it just his massive size. *SIGH*

Lesnar is a tank but moves like a cheetah. He's not a technical at all but all he needs to do is hit you hard once and lay on top of you.

He will fight the winner of Mir/Nog and will get submitted

Big UFC fan here. Nog, GSP, Spider, Griffin. Gotta root for the humble guys. Guys with respect. Was watching a recap of UFC this weekend - some random highlights and they showed the Nog/Silvia fight - man, i thought Nog had no chance after getting worked those first 2 rounds. Then i flip over to another channel and forgot about the fight and by the time i turned back, Nog had won. Man's got heart and he respects everyone. Love that. Love how his team was with him the entire TUF season. Mir actually seems like an alright dude. But i still gotta root for Nog.

Rashad Evans is without a doubt the most underestimated fighter in the UFC. After he left chuck liddel limp on the ground he really opened my eyes. If frank mir fights lesnar like he did noguiera he will beat him again. GSP will knock BJ off of a lot of best fighter alive lists. Quit giving anderson silva these cupcake fights, the only person I see giving him a challenge in that division is bisping just because of his skills in the clinch. Thiago alves will be the next welterweight champ no matter who wins on the 31st.(As long as he can make weight.)

Dana White confirmed that Nog had a staph infection leading up to the fight, which is probably why we didn't see the Nog at 100% and got KO'd

Tony

franklin vs hendo should be good!

legoguy
01-15-2009, 04:14 PM
I really hope Rich wins Saturday night, but I have a feeling Hendo is going to take it.

AS for GSP vs. Penn, if BJ is in shape I think he'll take it. He was taking it to GSP in their first fight, but he gassed out after the first round because he wasn't training properly. I think BJ is more focused now, but I also think GSP has improved since then so it really is a toss up. Should be a great fight.

Tony
01-15-2009, 04:34 PM
It really will be a great fight but a fight I see getting overlooked is chris lytle vs. marcus davis. That fights gonna be a brawl.

01-15-2009, 04:35 PM
If BJ wins, he might have to give up his LW belt and Florian and Sherk or or Diego fight for the belt. Then he would either have an instant rematch with GSP for best out of 3 or defend it against Alves.

If GSP wins, then he defends it against Alves and could have a superfight against Anderson Silva

Tony
01-15-2009, 04:41 PM

Yeah I think whoever wins will get beat by thiago alves. That guy looks like a light heavyweight but he fights at 170. If GSP does end up fighting anderson silva that would be insane. I think if bisping beats either hendo or franklin after the ultimate fighter finale he should instantly be in line for a title shot.

chckboy5
01-15-2009, 04:48 PM
bisping is over rated... he hasnt really faced top level opponents... thiago alves is a beast with his leg kicks, but i believe GSP is better than him... i really want penn to win so he can have two titles at once! also lets go machida!

Tony
01-15-2009, 05:10 PM
I HATE machida. He is the most boring fighter ever and if he fights someone who will push the pace on him like rampage would he will lose. Bisping fought rashad evans and came closer than anyone else to beating him. I'm not a big bisping fan or anything but he is the only middleweight I see giving anderson silva a challenge.

Tony
01-15-2009, 05:12 PM
I do think GSP is a better overall mixed martial artist than thiago alves but that kid has some devastating power at 170 and his takedown defense is excellent so I just can't see GSP being able to stand up with him.

chckboy5
01-15-2009, 05:54 PM
tito ortiz is the closest to beating evans, in my book he should of won, evans was lucky to get the draw... machida is not boring in my book, he is skilled and picks his spots

hes not boring, hes just a smart ass fighter...you dont always have to stand there and bang hoping that one will get through...you can pick your battles and should pick your strikes..."if he fights someone who will push the pace on him?" did you forget that he fought soukoudou (sp?) that pretty much pushed machida for 2.5 rounds?

as for 93, it should be a good event..rua will exact his revenge on coleman after so many years! break a leg, rua! :D

i wonder if we will see the shogun of old, if so, he needs to fight rampage in the OCTAGON!

Tony
01-15-2009, 07:44 PM
He is so afraid to stand up and fight that I can't say I like him as a fighter. It's a fact that the guy throws a punch or a kick and immediatly takes three steps back. I love ground fighting. Dustin hazelett is in my top 3 favorite fighters. It's a fact machida is a boring fighter and thats why he hasn't got a title shot yet despite being undefeated.

Tony
01-15-2009, 07:52 PM
And you don't have to run back 5 steps to avoid getting hit. Watch the bj penn vs. shaun sherk fight and that will show you how a real fighter avoids getting hit.

chckboy5
01-15-2009, 07:55 PM
different styles man, it must be his karate background haha... anyways machida ftw! did you see machida KO rich?

karmakramer
01-15-2009, 09:51 PM
well, bj is 3 inches taller than sherk, so of course he doesnt have to "run" back 5 steps...majority of machidas opponents are around the same height and have the same reach, if not more...its just different styles and different strategies; hes a counter striker always on the defense...hes not an exciting fighter, but i always enjoy watching him fight...

dare i say we start betting on fights with muggs?

01-16-2009, 07:36 AM
Oh so you must be a fighter. So how many steps does it take to avoid a hit?

1 and good hip and head movement.

Tony
01-16-2009, 12:35 PM
What about a take down?

Take down defense requires good balance, being light on your feet, and knowing how to sprawl.

true
01-16-2009, 01:06 PM
So how many steps backs does it take? I would think that would take less energy than sprawling.

Tony
01-16-2009, 01:11 PM

You can't just step back and avoid a takedown. Now i'm willing to come back on here and apologize for every negative thing i've said about machida IF he can beat thiago silva tomorrow night.

If GSP were a bit more intimidating, i think he'd rock it harder. I think people think they can take him cuz he looks like a "nice guy". then they get in the ring, and get whupped by Jean Claude van Damme incarnate. This is gonna be a tough fight. I really like both guys, prolly leaning towards GSP actually. Ever since he put the whup down on that turd Hughes, i've been a huge fan. I used to think Hughes was unbeatable and he seemed like such an ass. So when GSP finally brought it to him, i was ecstatic.

chckboy5
01-22-2009, 08:39 PM
same way i felt when penn beat hughes, hughes was at his peak when bj fought him... i like both gsp n penn but i want penn to win this one, then we will def have gsp vs penn 3!

anyways affliction on sat!

Tony
01-22-2009, 09:00 PM
I hope GSP beats the shit out of penn. Now don't get me wrong I like penn and in any other match I would be rooting for him but the shit he is talking about GSP is ridiculous. He already beat penn once (controversal I know) and for him to call GSP a little bitch and say he is going to kill him is just stupid. Talking smack is one thing but he is just being disrespectful. I'm picking GSP by ground and pound in the third round.

chckboy5
01-23-2009, 10:04 AM

Great clip chckboy5. Man, i do like both AA and Fedor. I'm with ya in that he tried to get a little too fancy possibly. Fedor's head was dipping ever-so-slightly and maybe that's why he tried to do it. He shoulda stuck to strikes in the corner and went for a flurry.

karmakramer

some decent fights here and there...fedor did everything right...he knew he couldnt get on the inside of AA judging from his first few punches that were overstretched and his reluctance to continue punching...so let AA back you up and play possum...he knew AA would try to capitalize on him in the corner and get over zealous/sloppy, but isnt smart enough to watch for fedors first strike...still hands down the most clever fighter in mma up to date...

how is it possible that AA made $1.5M with a possible $250k win bonus when fedor was only paid $300k with NO win bonus? is it a higher incentive for AA to face fedor? because in terms of promoting and making money i know for a fact that fedor sells more seats than AA...do people really need that much incentive to face him? since when did people need such a big payout to face fedor like hes the rancor or something...even barnett raked in $500K...this always pisses me off...why do promotion companies always underpay their champs...a huge e.g. would be anderson silva...ive been following mma since the late 90s and this is still an aspect of the business/sport that i will never understand...can anyone shed some light perhaps?

GSP via doctor stoppage. BJ looked horrible. Seeing BJ get his ass whooped made the whole PPV worth it for me. Machida looked good as well.

great fight by gsp... those ground and pound by gsp was nasty, he hit bj with a similar punch like what machida used to end silva... guess bj has to stick to 155... alves vs gsp should be good

machidaaaaaa!

GSP is unstoppable. He's my boy, but I had no idea it would be this one sides. The way he controlled BJ and passed his guard was unbelievable.

Apparent BJ is already making excuses.

I'm not surprised. After the first fight he made excuses. After the Hughes fight he had more excuses. Why can't he just admit he got his ass kicked? We all saw it.

man, i was rootin for him, but he got his ass handed to him...absolutely dominated in all aspects...cant say im not disappointed, but hats off to gsp, great fight plan and execution...i thought it would have been a little more back and forth for this fight, but i dont think any of us could have predicted such a one sided fight...i was freakin the f out in the third round when gsp had bj in the "crucifix" because i DID NOT want bj to go out the same way he went out to hughes...im just glad the fights over so i can stop feeling like i hate GSP because i love the guy, haha...

and machida, oh man!!! thats the best any of us has ever seen him!!! kinda like the days when he was more aggressive (his KO win over franklin) but on steroids!!! im so glad he FINALLY changed his game plan...hope he fights like that from now on to shut the skeptics up...title shot! title shot! title shot!

boo for ufc judges...dong was robbed, no questions about it...karo didnt deserve that win for shit...absolute BS...

hats off to clay too...he fought a tremendous fight!!!

bj was a big dissapointment.
Kim won that fight and I swear I saw Karo tap in the first.

karo fight was close, i myself, gave rounds 2 and 3 to karo

i just hope bj recovers from that beating and continues to do well in 155

karmakramer
02-01-2009, 11:42 AM
i didnt think that fight was close at all...i was in a bar and couldnt hear very clear, but was karo deducted a point for the up-kick to a downed opponent in the second? or was it just a warning? cuz if he was, that makes two rounds for dong and split (imo) third...

BJ Penn's camp filed a formal complaint that GSP's cornerman applied Vaseline on GSP's chest and back. That did happen, but I'm curious to see what happens! It's the fight after the fight

karmakramer

cornerman will most likely get canned, but nothing will happen to GSP...

They can't at least at UFC 98. Jackson needed medical attention to his knuckles and jaw. The turnaround is too quick and not enough time to heal + train. UFC 98 is in 2 months btw

i mean in the future, if jackson and evans really wanna fight, either way i see machida being the champ, but anything can happen when people fight... thats y i said machida vs rampage unless he really wants to fight evans instead of machida since theres gonna be some black on black crime

I hated Rashad when he was a lay and pray fighter, but lately he's been a killer. Machida isn't so bad either, so it really could go either way. Will Rashad be able to unload on Machida, or will Machida be able to frustrate Rashad and catch him?

I think Rashad is better than people give him credit for, and that Machida is going to have his work cut out for him if he wants to take the title.

I love to gamble, but I sure wouldn't put any money on this fight. But, since it's not for money, I'm gonna agree with Tony's prediction. Rashad by GnP in round 3.

Machida was a monster last nite... way too quick for rashad... that knockout was awesome... rashad totally buckled after machida unloaded on his face... almost looked like iceman in his prime with the way he was punching...

the last machida fight i saw was with thiago silva and he rocked that guy.

Yeah, I'd say that Machida has definitely shed the "boring" tag after his last couple performances. Rashad is no slouch, and he made him look like an amateur.

Initially its really fun... But, after maybe a week straight of playing, its ehh.... As long as you have different people to play with, then it'll probably be fun... But, its pretty hard to make the other guy submit... and if you guys do straight up boxing, its hard to knock the other person out... kicking people in the face knocks them down really well...

I have it for PS3. The game is addictive. Its fun to play although the submission system could be better.

I don't have trouble KOing guys but submitting guys is difficult.

I bought it first day. As long as you work on your guy through Career Mode, Submissions are easy. Hell if you look at my record online, 78% of my wins are from submissions. It's all about the Stamina bar and when to strike really. I also made a Jason "Mayhem" Miller.

MAYHEM MONKEY!!

Sure have.

As long as you get him down to a Gassed state and have good submission skills your good to go.
