paint a mugg?

I'm going to customize an Indy mugg there for repainting it? How do I do that, do I jus sand off the paint i dont want or do I jus paint over the old paint?

I would just paint over the original paint - first put down a base coat of paint, then when it dries you can proceed with the colors.

make sure you clean it first. scuff with 1000 grit sandpaper also, i painted one without cleaning with soap first and the paint wouldnt stick.

I would recommend washing it first, then coating it with a Krylon Fusion spray paint. It worked great and then I just painted acrylics straight on. Seal it with a krylon Matte spray coat.

thanks guys for the help. im going to try and make my own war machine, i know some people made there own and theres looks mean. im also working on the killzone video game charater. i think there called hellgast. hopefully i can get some pics up when im finished with both. well thanks guys for the help. aloha.
