the mayans never said the world will end. there calendar, like your cars odometer, resets after its completed. vulcans right though, we (society) will probably kill ourselves somehow...
and if the mayans are so smart where are they now? they didnt have the know how to predict and stop their invasion.

I really hope the world doesn't end, lol! It seems way to early for the world to end, because 2 @#$% milliniums? I think not! I also think that the world will go on past 2012, because lots of lives will never get to see earth if it ends on 2012!

You know its very unlikely the world will end in a year so close. I mean people thought it would end back in 2000! The only things I worry of, is "Planet X" which was first discovered in the early 80s. In the 80s "Planet X" was thought to just be yet another far away planet. But then in 2003 another photo revealed it was getting larger and lighter. No body ever talks about it though. But I think its possible it could be a black hole. Something else interesting is that scientists say there may be an object that may come near Earth in 2012 or 2013. They say it should indeed miss though. So I really don't know. I'm not gonna live thinking were all gonna die in 4 years, cause that's just crazy.

in Dec 21 2012 is the world really going to end because the avengers movie is comming out in that year. Also I'm scared if the world is going to end. :(

imo, i know the mayans are way too smart for something like this, i think the calender ended because it didnt end it just shows that instead of relying on them for guidance, it ended to allow us to rely on ourselves as a planet, country, city, neighborhood, and as a family to gain our own guidance in life. its just another chapter in the earths life, the earth survived for over 65 million years well if you consider the dinosaurs being hit with an astroid a start over then idk but a very very long time. more then 5000 years.

I'm not worried at all, but if something big does happen I'll be glad that I was around for the end of the world. It would add a sense of accomplishment to life.

People throughout time have always thought the end of the world was just around the corner. If it really is the end of the world (and I don't think it is) f*** it everybody else is dying right along with me and there is nothing we can do so just always live your life to the fullest and do what makes you happy and die knowing you had fun while it lasted.

If anyone here has ever heard of the Dooms Day Clock, its interesting. Apparently there's a pretend clock that every time there is more Nuclear and Atomic weapons in the world it gets closer to Midnight which is when Dooms Day aka the Nuclear War is. I saw on a TV show that it is currently 7 minutes to Midnight. I don't believe this theory at all, but I still think that its always possible for there to be a day where a simple missile launch can lead to a world ending war. Just look back at WWII, it was complete chaos then. And today there's so many terrorists we can't even count them. Not to mention a few world leaders that US doesn't trust who holds nuclear power (Russia, North Korea, Iran, etc.)

hah, i just researched it, it was a viral marketing campaign for the movie 2012. its meant to scare you, then once you see that they are making a movie for 2012 your like "oh my, im scared of 2012, i want to learn more...im going to go see the movie and slap down $10". read some of my posts in the 2012 thread to decide for yourself.

Oh. I don't see why people would make a group for their possible doom. If its true, you can't stop it anyways, so why bother? But I have my own thoughts I don't feel the need to share here. And yea you can read the first thread if you want. But this movie should be interesting. The trailer is creeeeeepy. :eek:
