Project Mayhem Contest I

The first contest i ever entered when coming to the MMF was a mockup contest held by B.A.L.D., and to this day it is still one of my favorite contests ive ever been a part of. So ive decided to start a Showdown for Mockups. I figured this might open the door to some of the people who are not so good with painting or for the people who just dont have time to invest in makeing a mugg, plus still welcoming all the regulars who artwork continually blows us away.

This will be held much like a Rocketboy Tourney in that there will be brackets and rounds. Every person is allowed to enter TWO Mockups. (Yes this means one of your mockups could go up against another of your own, the possibilities are endless.) Mockups can be hand drawn, painted, photoshop, fingerpaint, stickfigures, any media you like. All submissions need to be mailed to me at Screamt111@aol.com or pmed to me on the MMF. All are welcome to sign up for this contest. Artwork must be yours, no copying from an old post or from hasbro and calling it yours. Can be any characters from anything.

All entries are due in on Aug. 21st by the stroke of midnight, or your mockup will turn into a pumpkin and gallagher will smash it with a huge hammer while doing stand-up comedy.

The prize like in the Showdowns is you get bragging rights and a banner that says you won the first ever PROJECT MAYHEM award.

As a special award i will also mail the winner a Mighty Mugg so they can transform their mockup into a Mugg.

Haha anyways, I loved BALD's contest as well. Really something different that really hasnt been brought up again until now. Too bad Irulan smashed the hell out of everyone else's mock up in that one. If she is in, then good luck to the competition.

Grapetang i have faith in you and remember you can do two entries so any two characters in all of everything.

ShinsoMuggs Even if you only grab a piece of paper and draw the mugg outline and draw a smiley face on the inside that counts. So maybe start off by doing that and then every detail you add to that is just bonus. haha

To muggz I cant enphasize how far a pencil and paper can get you, In B.A.L.D.'s contest i came in second to Irulan and all i did was pencil and paper and the program Paint on a PC with windows 97.

Its all about ideas and being origional. oh and magical my little ponies, did i say that out loud.

Oh and you can use your mock up from Kire's Kontest as well, since i will be posting these after his contest is over. Also if you are just doing commitions for people you can use that mock up...

So just to be clear...I posted my mock-up (that was my own creation) on here but it was just a "Look at my first Mock-up", that would not be valid? If I have to make a new one, that is no big deal...just making sure.

Also it is JasonTeck not JasonTech...been dealing with having to correct that all my life :)

And no big deal about the name thing. Actually I am very use to it and this past year I fought with my daughter's school all year to change the misspelling (same one...H instead of K). Finally at the last quarter they got it right :)

Okay, today is dedicated to finding a character.

I have a sketchpad that i started the first day i found these forums, and on the first 5 pages i made a list of every mugg i might ever want to make (obviously i keep adding as the years pass). My advice is just pick your three favorite movies and go from there, or three favorite games if your a gamer.

I am working on 5 mockups, 2 are done and three are in progress... but when they are all done then i chose the two best and unleash them into this contest.

Oh and if you just hate movies and games then its clear that the character you should make is Bob Dole holding a pepsi and a viagra.

LOL @ the bob dole comment. I remember not being able to go an hour without saying "bob dole" (apparently it was a running joke). Anyways, I did the same. Writing down every characters I'd like to create a mugg out of. The list is gigantic and I'm not sure if they'll ever get anywhere, but it sure was fun. I finally did a pencil sketch of one and since it took me 3 hours to finish, I'm betting that's the one I enter because I don't know if I'll have the time to do another one.

As siddney said THERE IS STILL TIME... Scan them in, take pictures, duck tape it to your computer screen and mail me your computer...

I just wanted to say thank you to all who participated, and for all the great art. Sid congrats on winning, Doom was incredible. I have to admit i am super inspired, and so i am painting like crazy. Thanks again to all who made the first Project Mayhem a huge success, and be ready there will be many many more to come. I secretly made quite a few mock ups that i will be saving for the next few Project Mayhems. Also everyone check out Sid's New sig it is pretty cool if i do say so myself.
