By now you've had to have seen the commercials.

It came out last night at midnight...technically this morning at at 12:01 but, are you going to see it? Have you seen it ?

From what I have heard and read it has not turned out to be a great movie at all (Oh wow M. Night made a bad movie WHAT!?!?) but, being a true fan I will see it no matter who the crappy director is.

I'm def gonna go see it. Been waiting for who knows how many months now but I also have my doubts about it from a few things I see on the commercials. But I hope it turns out to be just awesome!

I've never seen the show but I think the movie looks interesting. If anyone has any opinions on whether a non-fan would like it, I'd like to hear them. =)

I mean, a non-fan wouldn't understand it as much as a fan would.
No offense. :)

I don't care why it is these people can control the elements. (Perhaps they are Planeteers and have their elemental rings? *sings* Captain Planet. He's our hero! Gonna bring pollution down to zero!)

I'm just wondering if the story-telling/ plot is sound and the action/ visuals entertaining.

JUST SAW IT. As a super fan, I think you can all trust the things I have to say.

From a fan stand point there are a lot of points in the story that are a let down because they condense about 5 episodes into 3 minutes. Or like, something they take en entire episode to explain, they give a short version of it in the movie. However all in all i'm glad I saw it, it definitely exceeded my expectations.
I almost cried at the end with Yue (fans know what i'm talking about, dont want to spoil it for anyone!)

From a non-fan standpoint it can be a little confusing. Basically going into the movie you need to know there are 4 nations. Water Earth Fire and Air. Some people from these nations have the power to manipulate their elements. Once you know that much, the rest of it is explained in the movie.

The movie itself is just a condensed version of the first season of the show. Non-fans wouldn't know any different and would just take it as a fun action filled movie, but fans of the show will see the major differences between movie and show, although not terrible, it still kind of upsets me that locations were changed, however for the issue of time it's understandable.

it was REALLY super condensed. Writing was a little iffy in parts. Special effects were cool. I just didnt like "emo Aang." He never smiled or joked around.

Maybe emo is the new cool thing for superhero types. After all, it happened to Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3.

I dont really follow the show but I know a thing or two about Airbender. That thing that flys in the cartoon looks scary in real life (commercial). Like a salamander mixed with an ox.

Also, there's a lot of middle eastern actors in this movie. Is that the same as the cartoon?

Saw it last night in 3-D, and ive never watched the show ever.

It was great. Loved everything as a whole. It did seem as if they were rushing things in the story line from time to time, but wow it was fun. Also it was nice for the first time for M. Night to get his social agenda across without having to do some wierd ending. Bravo.

I think this also stems into the "hey they didnt get an asian kid to play Aang" debacle a lot of people were up in arms about. The thing is, the cartoon is a cartoon (so you really cant tell "nationality") and the only real nationalities anyone has are Fire, Water, Earth, and Air nations. Its asian THEMED, but its not really even our "Earth" in a sense. Its like when they made that Dragonball abomination and everyone said "hey Goku should be japanese" well thats not technically true, he should be an alien.

That being said Mr. S did seem to pick nationalities for each nation. Earth appeared Chinese, Water seemed Caucasian, Fire Middle Eastern, and the Air Nomads became a mixture.

Watch the show, and I can't wait to see it. Only problem is Twighlight just came out and I hate crowds. So i'm gonna have to wait to catch it later because the theater is packed with really annoying folks right now.

I saw the midnight showing. I thought it was cool, but everyone around me seemed to hate it. Yes, I have watched the cartoon. I'm not a super fan or anything though. I could tell there were quite a few differences, but I didn't make a big deal about them like everyone else seemed to. I'm not overly critical/picky of most movies. Some of the acting wasn't the greatest. (Mainly between Sokka, Katara and Aang.) But overall, I enjoyed it. I thought Appa was bad-ass. And I thought all the special effects with the bending throughout the movie was awesome.

On another note: I honestly don't think M. Night is that bad of a director. A few of his movies haven't been the greatest, but I've liked more than I've hated.

I'll add my 2 cents into this again :)

The avatar fandom is insane. I am a part of it an would dare to venture into saying i'm one of the biggest fans of the series and i'll support it no matter what happens. For me the movie ruined so many things that the show had, but I got to the point while watching the movie that so many things (because avatar is so dominant in my life) gave me chills to see it brought to the big screen. Idk I can't explain it but it felt good even though it wasn't the same as the original. I walked out with a huge smile on my face which I did NOT expect to have, and I think at this point the fandom is being overly critical.

Also, the thing about races is like what was posted, everyone was flipping out because Aang wasn't asian and they think it's racist, so we believe M. Night recasted the rolls (as Zuko was originally to be played by Jesse McCartney) and made the entire fire nation middle eastern, the earth kingdom was all asian as stated, the air nomads were mixed and the water tribe was a lot of caucasian but some asian thrown in as well.

But yeah, the acting did have it's low points. I found myself laughing at a few points saying "Did they really just say that?" or "Did that really just happen?"

like sokka i love the shows. watched every episode when the show first came out and i own the series now and have watched it who knows how many times. but the MAIN reason, but not the only reason by far, that i did not like the movie was because i did not laugh not 1 time. and avatar is a very funny show...

If you're talking about Avatar on Nickelodeon,
It actually finished a while a while back.
So, the show is not canceled.
The series ended a while back.
And, a predictable, but good ending as well. :)

Sozin's Comet Part 4: Avatar Aang, was the last episode.
If you've seen the episode you know at the end of it, a big chinese painting comes on, and then it says the end. :)

It has ended a while back. It had 3 parts, divided to what he had to learn: 1st season was Water, 2nd season was Earth, and last season was fire.

Yeah show is neither cancelled or on hiatus. The creators of the show wrote the series to only be three seasons. Unlike most animes it wasn't meant to be a show about random crap happening in every episode, the show was written from episode 1 to defeat the firelord and end the war. That happened in the last episode, hence the end of the show. It's not like Pokemon where they can just mysteriously add a new land and invent 150 more pokemon to make the show to continue to be a cash cow, and I respect the creators so much for making the series like that. As much as I truly love the show, it's better that it ended instead of continuing and ruining the storyline.

However for those that are curious a new series is speculated to be started soon. Nickelodeon has copyrights on the name "Avatar: The Legend of Korra" and they also stated at one years SDCC that after the series is over they had no plans to continue it, however stated that "They are not done with the Avatar universe". Whether or not the main cast will be in the new series (if and when we see it) is still unknown as is everything about this new series, but for my own pleasure i'd hope the original cast would make cameos in the series (because the series obviously revolves around this mysterious Korra person) otherwise it would upset me to know that the world is the same, but some of our favorite characters are gone from the series. Though I do trust the creators in making a new series that would be just as amazing as the original and have characters just as amazing to fall in love with. I think it would just be awesome to see the original cast older, married, having kids. Fans, me included, are speculating that Korra might be Aang and Kataras daughter.

Anyways off of that...

I didn't find the movie very disappointing as I stated. Yes a lot was changed from the series, but the basics were still there and for any true fan (though other fans would attack me for this) it was satisfying and I dont see why fans are hating it so much.

Saw this movie the other night. Loved the graphics and the story line was fine. Hated the acting. It made me cringe a little. If they had better actors/actresses, i'm sure the reviews would be a lot different.
