View Full Version : Display ideas?
A lot of you seem pretty inventive with your display items, so I was looking for a little help.
I collect the Star Wars Titanium Series Vehicles, I don't have a huge collection, but when I see them, I tend to buy them.
I keep them in their boxes as I'm weird like that and don't open a lot of stuff. So it makes it difficult to display them (they are currently in a storage bin).
I was initially thinking of getting like a Styrofoam board of some sort (like what they use in cubicles) and putting it on my wall then tacking the items on that because I didn't want holes everywhere. :)
What do you think? Any other suggestions or ideas?

the styrofoam is a good idea. you could cover it with fabric too. that would make it look really cool! i have a hard time with my packaged figures as well.
i know what figures you are talking about, i have a few myself. and they would be hard to display in the package.
i opened mine! i only have 2 though. good luck :)

You could try going on craigslist and look for a display rack or a display case. Those titanium figures are quite tricky to display. You'll def. want to try hanging them somehow. ^_^ Good luck!
Well, this is eventually what I got.
I'm missing the snow speeder up top...stupid space.

Very cool setup--what is is exactly? I really do like that series, but I'm new to the collecting game and I hardly have any room for my Muggs. Catching up on these would be somewhat impossible hehe

They are the star wars titanium vehicle series. I enjoy them. But they are like $7 bucks a pop depending on where you get them. :(
Edit: Whoops the other part didn't post.
The board I have them on is actually an insulation board from Home Depot. I just covered it in the same fabric I wrapped my display case shelves in. It's stretchy but looks good at the same time. Then I just stick pins in to hold it up. It's surprisingly thick, so it holds the weight rather well.

It looks great and very professional!

theres about ten other thread for this same idea.
why dont the mods just put everything pertaining to this idea into one thread.

try that, and expand your brain rather than using styrofoam. laaazy

Hmm...the lined-up feel of it is very nice, but i gotta say that the black just stands out like a sore thumb against your tan walls. And the way it's leaning, i'd prefer it to be standing straight up. I guess one suggestion would be to, since it's apparently styrofoam, is cut it so that it matches the height of the top of your curtains. It kinda just just out on top of everything. That is if you're going for the whole symmetrical/lined-up feel, which it appears you are. And if you need more space, make another similar "wall" on another bare space on the wall and expand that way. Just my thoughts.

I don't see how using Styrofoam is lazy, considering I need to tack the items to something, they can't just sit on a shelf.
And sorry, but I guess I happened to miss the "ten other threads". Oh but wait, did you actually read the thread or just glimpse over it and assume you knew what it pertained to? Laaazy.

Actually, I thought the same thing, but it's getting rather filled up now, which is why I left that much at the bottom, lol. I would prefer it standing straight up as well, but then I'd have to put more holes in the wall, and that's something I'm very much trying not to do, especially if I ever have to move it. I initially wanted to put up another one the same size, etc, on the other side of the window, but that was the only space I had left in the room. If I had initially just went with all my nerd stuff, it would have been fine, but I had the room decorated with horses first. Many of which are still in here. I just ordered some blackout 'black' curtains that will be going up as well. I hope that will help. I actually have a lot of black in the room with other shelving and picture frames that doesn't look to shabby. I really am crossing my fingers that the curtains will help pull it all together more. When they come in and I get them up, I'll take a few pictures and you can tell me what you think. Unfortunately, even if it sucks, I can't do much about it since I've spent all the money I can right now.

hey, I think its commendable Colt that you actually made something to display your collection. Even if you decide to do something more, this could be the blueprint for a more permanent display in the future! Thanks for sharing your work and I have nothing but kind words for creativity!!!!!
