I've noticed there's been a few people on here requesting light up lightsabers, so I decided to see how hard/easy it would be.

I saw that that asshat on eBay (the name escapes me right now) made a Vader with a light up saber that looked stupid, too big, nothing like the MM saber, ect. I wanted to use the regular MM saber to preserve the look, just add the light, wiring, batteries, ect.

So, here's the end results:

The pictures show the "white" light alot more then how it really looks in person. In person, it's alot more green at the base of the hilt.

I don't have pictures right now, but the batteries are installed inside the back of the torso with a hatch so, they are removable/changeable. The on/off switch is located right above the batttery hatch.

This will be customized into someone else now. A jedi with a green saber, just have to decide who....my top two choices are Luke ROTJ or Quinlan Vos, but we'll see.

Looks awesome! Can you give us some specifics as to what materials we need, as well as the process from start to finish? Thanks amigo!

So I guess there's no way to simply place a small diode at the hilt of the lightsaber and avoid feeding wires and what not through the body itself. I guess there's nothing that small yet?

Yeah, I don't think there's anything that small yet. I fed the wires through the arm and the torso works to house everything.

If I get an order for one (or I make another for myself), I'll consider making a tutorial. I didn't make one while I was making Grievous.

I don't usually create tutorials because of past bad experience with others, so I stopped making them.

I know this is an older thread but I was wondering if you might get better results if you drilled out the center of the blade. I'm thinking this might get more even light distribution. I dont know if its even possible to do this, just something I thought of.

Yes thats the exact same idea I have been thinking about for a while. could be a bit tricky to drill out the center but the light would definatly be brighter.

Honestly I dont even have a saber to look at. As you can see from my post count I'm kinda new to this. Would it be possible to put the saber in a drill press with a clamp and just drill it out from the bottom?

I'd like to see how Quinlan would turn out.

Would you put his hair as painted on, or sculpted?
