Conan O'Brien - Jay Leno Drama

Well seems that Conan O'Brien might be off air next week. Sources say (reliable, right?) that Conan no longer wants to make new shows and wants to leave NBC.

What do you guys think? Any of you watch either Jay Leno or Conan O'Brien or do we have some Craig Ferguson fans here? :)

Conan did say something funny which sums up all this hooplah.

"Hosting The Tonight Show has been the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for me - and I just want to say to the kids out there watching: You can do anything you want in life....

Unless Jay Leno wants to do it, too."

I don't know why they couldn't have just left the shows alone the way they were. Jay doesn't need anymore money! Conan is doing the right thing by thinking of what tis would do to Jimmy. I like all three of these guys but Jimmy is probably my favorite. Jimmy is so under rated.

I've never been a fan of Leno. When I had to choose between him and Letterman I'd watch Dave (and Dave isn't miuch funnier than Leno wasn't to me). I always watched Conan and sometimes during repeats or if I didn't care for any of the guests I'd watch Furguson. So when they switched Conan to the Tonight Show I was super happy because I didn't have to miss Furguson anymore.

So for me this decision is weird and lame. If a low rated scripted show fails they just cancel it, they don't move it to another slot to see if it does better. Which is why this bothers me so much. But then again who am I?

And I agree with Yabemc that Jimmy Fallon is underrated. His show has gotten a lot better. If the plan went through and he was pushed back I'm sure a lot less people would watch him because of it being so late. Or more people would do what I do and watch him online.

NBC did one of the weirdest moves I've seen a network do so far. It's like NBC said to themself "Well we are doing very well in the ratings...let's just change the schedules up a bit and triple our ratings. Change is good, right?"

I am NOT a fan of Leno... not now not ever! So whatever when it comes to him!

But Conan... funny! I liked what Conan has been saying about the changes and I respect him more for declining to give into them! Good for him! I haven't caught too much of the drama but from what I have seen I think NBC is pretty stupid!

Also.. I agree with above statements... Jimmy is pretty funny too!!! He has a different twist to his show!

I need time to watch more TV at night! Painting lately!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was funny, I do not think that is what Jay was expecting...WAY TO GO Kimmel!!!

My take on it is this...Jay Leno failed he should go away, Conan & Jimmy Fallon stay in their time slots. Really they should have put Jay Leno on around 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. because his core audience does not stay up much later than that anyway : )

I read Leno's monologue from Monday I think and he's trying to play the victim in this too. Maybe it's just me but he wasn't forced to say he'd go back to 11:35. They asked and he said ye. So how does that make him a victim? As far as i'm concerned the man has no integrity. Leno should have said to the suits at NBC "well I failed, my show was a terrible lead in and I've been hurting a show I am supposed to have cared about I'll go away." I also read he was only thinking of his staff, which seems noble but at the same time his staff didn't move clear across the country for their jobs they moved maybe down the street or across the city.

And finally I'm glad to hear that one of Conan's biggest sticking points in his exit deal was making sure his staff got paid too. To me that's integrity.

i used to love these guys back when jay was doing the tonight show and conan doing the late night show and i was happy when jay announced 5 years ago that he'd hand over the tonight show to conan but right now i see jay's true color.. i mean that guy is a snake. he didnt care if jimmy fallon's show gets pushed back and he used to be the host of the tonight show and if he takes the 11:35 spot the show he used to host for more than a decade will be pushed back to 12:05 and its not the tonight show anymore.. gosh leno.. well when he gets back to the tonight show we should chant "we want coco"

Jay Leno is starting to annoy me. I remember during the final weeks of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, he talked about getting the new show at 10:00 and he said something like, 'Well we'll give it a try. If it works, it works and if it doesn't well we had a hell of a run.'

I feel that NBC should just cancel only Jay and let Conan's show blossom and try to find an audience. Workaholic Jay still wants to be on tv even after 17 years of hosting the Tonight Show. He will freakin clutch onto that show til the day he dies.

Truly one of the messiest screw ups by a network company.
