I searched and I couldn't find anything on people leaving the muggs in the box.
I have 7 so far and only 1 has been opened. I really want to open these things but wonder if I will be throwing away money. Some of them don't seem that collectible but other seems like they are, I know that Hasbro made a ton of them. I know for sure my Ackbar and Shadow Stormtrooper are staying boxed
What do you do with yours? Keep them in the box, or buy two one to open and one to keep?
just looking for suggestions.

welcome to the site schlomo, you pose a very interesting question which could be debated forever. many people here will tell you "let your muggs run free!". when people put it that way, its hard not to. i opened my first 8 muggs or so, and i threw away the boxes. i dont know why i threw them away. i decided, that from then on i would keep them boxed, and set out on a quest to re-find the ones i opened. my search is complete and now i keep all the new waves boxed. this is merely a personal choice. if you EVER plan on selling them, boxed is the best way. it also saves them from falling over and what not.
alternatively, you can cut the tape and the bottom of the box, slide the muggs out and save the boxes in case you want to store them there later. with a few exceptions, i dont know if you would be loosing out on to much money if you opened them, and for sure if you are going to keep them, opening would be fine. however, im not selling mine but i keep them boxed.

I myself own only one Mugg but that one mugg is open and chillin' on my shelf. I still have the box. I open pretty much anything I buy. I don't plan on selling and I like to display them, so I have no reason to keep them boxed. But that's just me. You could think completely differently.

If you plan on selling them then don't open them. If you like them because the look cool then let them out. It's a personal choice.

depends on why you collect. i take them out because i view them as cool toys to pose and show off

I am a new collector (just started this week) and have debated the same thing you are. I decided that I am going to have more fun with the hobby if I am able to take them out of the box and not worry if the box is in tip-top shape.
I own 4 so far and all are out and sitting on my shelf. (I have kept the box and packaging in as good condition as possible though) If I get a double, I will keep that one in the box since I already have one on the shelf.
The exclusives are definitely staying in the box. The all the ones in the store are fairly common (except Venom and Stormtrooper) so take them out!!!

Are stormtroopers that rare?
Anyway, I keep mines boxed, though I don't plan on selling them, I just think that they're look cooler if they remain boxed.
The only one NIB is Venom, but I bought it like that, and I do think it's awesome to make it pose, I dunno why but I love it
I keep mine boxed. Not because I am a collector, it is just a space thing. It is easier to stack the boxed Muggs on my dresser (the only place my wife allows them), than to open them all and have them posed. I did buy two Caps so I can keep one boxed, and one opened for my desk at school.

i am a collector and i keep my toys moc and loose depends on the toy really.. in this case mighty muggs i open those regular muggs but i will buy another regular mugg that looks cool to me so that i have one loose and one moc like galactus.. then with regards to exclusives it should be kept inside then buy another one if you like to play with it like sdcc ironman im planning to get another one for me to open.. well that is me.. but if you observe hasbro produce toys and will not stop until everyone got one.. take for example transformers movie merchandise the hype died a year ago but still they keep on producing coz someone is buying..
I like to keep them in a box. I don't plan on selling them though but the box it comes in is a pretty nice display box itself

I totally agree with you! Once they're like 50 bucks each I'll say "oh man! I remember buying them when they were $10 each!"

yup nostalgic.. and its nice to own a piece of history hahaha.. its nice to own something valuable
I've opened most of mine and tossed the boxes, with the exception of Galactus (opened but kept the box) and SDCC Iron Man who I can't bring myself to open, he just looks so cool in there.
Yesterday I picked up a series one IM to keep the SDCC version company and have decided that I'm going to keep all the Iron Men MIB to act as a Hall of Armor. If I ever pick up the Indy Jones Idol I'll most likely keep him MIB as well.
