Is anyone else excited about this movie?! It's out here, but I wasn't able to see it this week...and screw going to the theater on the weekend. I've heard nothing but amazing things about it!

I saw it. Great movie. All Tallahassee wanted was a Twinkie, not a Snowball, he doesn't like coconut, not the flavor, the consistency.

I really want to see this movie!

Does that young girl kill any zombies? Curious because I think it'll be funny seeing a 13 year old girl kill a zombie.

I've seen it twice as well, it was amazing! Funny, lots of zombies and the characters were lovable. I was expecting it to be a bit more gory, but I guess they tried to keep it just bloody enough for the "teen" rating.

I was planning on seeing it tomorrow, since I'm always off Monday's, but of course it has to be a holiday *shakes fist* I can't stand sitting in a crowded theater, no matter how bad I want to see the movie.

I was quite surprised at how many people are singing such a happy tune about this movie. This is something I posted on another forum, and while the majority of the people agreed with me there, I think it'll be the opposite situation here, which will be interesting. Please tell me how I am wrong, and what was actually good about the movie, as I can't think of anything in particular that actually was. [Swearing removed from zombieland rant re-post due to virgin eyes.] :

"Seriously, the movie was so bad I wanted to walk out. Sadly I was past the point of getting my money back, so I braved the cliche-storm. I should have left, money back or not.

First things first: Nuts to Jesse Eisenberg, and to heck with that melon-headed uggo Emma Stone. Why? Jesse is another Michael Cera. Except uglier. Call me old fashioned, but the whole mumbling-mono toned-socially awkward-skinny-nerd thing just does absolutely nothing for me. Cera and Eisenberg CAN'T ACT. Now, I realize that it's a zombie movie, and hey, we're in it for the cheap thrills/scares, gore, and good kills, right?

WRONG. Because there are none of the above in this movie. The gore is minimal [the majority of the kills take place off-screen], the scares are non existent, and the good kills are just plain no where to be found. Which is sad, considering that this is a movie that boasts a 'zombie kill of the week' IN THE FUDGING TRAILER.

Best part about the movie? Bill Murray. Although he's not even funny, and the appearance of Mr.Murray signifies the start of the thirty five zombie free minutes of the latter half of the movie.

That's right. A ZOMBIE movie that's lacking zombies. For more than a few minutes. Why? Because Melon-Head Emma Stone gets drunk on wine and tries to seduce Eisenberg. But then doesn't. Because IT'S A ZOMBIE MOVIE AND WE DON'T CARE ABOUT A GOSH DARNED EMOTIONAL ARC.

I realize that movies need substance. A plot. Something for us to relate to. Shaun of the Dead did it with the Shaun/Liz sub plot. Dawn of the Dead [both the original AND remake] did it equally well.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE POOPS WHO WROTE THIS FLICK FAILED. THEY FAILED HARD. IS IT A COMING OF AGE TEEN ROMANCE MOVIE? IT MUST BE. OH NO WAIT THERE'S SOME LAME ZOMBIES. NOW I'M CONFUSED."

FLAME ON! Ha.

Saw it about a month back for the first time. Instant Classic!

Reading through this thread, I have seen criticism over Jesse Eisenburg(spl.?) and his 'plain old montone nerdness'. While I agree, it is on the cusp of getting way overdone, I felt that he did great in this movie. Also, saying that Bill Murray was the best part because it was 35 minutes of Zombie-less action...Well I felt that this movie wasn't ABOUT the zombies. I figured based off the title and the previews, it was going to be a non stop gag reel involving zombies. But I really felt the humor lied in the relationships between the characters.

I see his reasoning on some points, but I think he was going into expecting a horror-comedy (as was I) when really, as he said, it felt like a coming of age teen romance (which I liked about it, but apparently he didn't).

I felt it worked on all cylinders. However, Hollywood does need to cool it though on the "Really nerdy somewhat ugly and awkward guy going for the girl but it will never work because he's too nerdy and awkward and ejaculates prematurely how embarrassing oh wait he did end up getting the girl hell yeah we can all relate to that oh and he got kicked in the nuts a few times along the way" type of movies.

Itz_Mighty
04-11-2010, 07:12 PM
Well the guy is a nerd but he did risk his life for the hot girl near the end of the movie so he "earned" the girl.

TO_muggz
04-11-2010, 09:17 PM
that guy is merely stating his opinion towards most of those things...thats like saying everyone is always going to like every actor or every movie that hollywood produces ...i for example hate steve martin and his movies but everyone thinks he/they are hilarious ...just an opinion and preference of movies

Well for me, it's just so funny that...

SPOILER WARNING
####################

Bill tries to scare that kid and gets shot. In my mind, "he just shot Bill Murray!!" Then he dies and then they get rid of the body by throwing him over the balcony in his own home (real or just rented a home, whichever), lol. I don't know. For me, it's so disrespectful how Bill is treated that it comes off very funny for me. Different strokes for different folks.
