So when does C3PO have the sliver leg?

My friend has a 3PO figure that has a sliver leg from the knee down and I noticed the same of the mugg. We were wondering just when he has that.

Throughout the whole original trilogy, he has the Silver leg.

Thanks, Teeks. I was thinking that might be it but then I realized that seeing as they clean him up for the award ceremony at the end of A New Hope I thought that they might replace the leg. I never noticed it in any of the movies. I'll be sure to let my friend know. Thanks again.
